A nice surprise for a NAS Islay whisky without a "big name".
A good measure of water and 10/15 minutes in the glass I've found to be the best way to appreciate it....
One of the most "coherent" drum of the last period, with nose, mouth and finish that gives the same sensations.
    • Nose

Peat and salt at the first, then a good hint of spice, I believe that some period of his life was in a sherry cask. Very appreciable....
    • Taste

Despite of the 58abv, with the correct quantity of water it becomes sweet with the same spicy notes that we can find in the nose. Woody peat is harmoniously present....
    • Finish
      83 83
Dry sweetness and peat that warm the mouth.

A solid Islay whisky which leaves nothing to be desired. Nothing special but a rock-solid whisky which makes you want more.
    • Nose
Subtle mineral earth tones mix with a fine peat note, the 58% alcohol content are very dominant but not disturbing. The longer the Finlaggan is in the glass, the more intense is its smoke and the cold ash, which turns into a harmonious campfire flavor. Subtle fruit notes are added, with only the mineral peat aroma and the smoke dominating.
    • Taste
Spicy wood elements immediately mix with intense peat and smoke. Bitter wood and peat flavors end in a subtle sharpness. The entire mouth glows and fills with chubby heat. At the second sip the following flavors are the same ... Dry and earthy peat mixes with a cold column of smoke, ash and glowing embers leave a dry and bitter earthy aroma on the palate. A light pinch of pepper dances on the tongue, a dark walnut aroma is created and lets forget the smoky peat for a moment.
    • Finish
Earthy peat with a subtle smoky note starts the finish. The mineral notes come to bear again, harsh and yet spicy woody aroma mixes with the peat and smoke. Slowly the warming finish ends and leaves a subtle salt and pepper aroma on the tongue.
