    • Nose
The foam blocks (hard marshmallows) that I deem so typical for Cooley. Apple and vanilla. Later a little caramel.
    • Taste
Foam blocks, apple, cranberry and grass.
    • Finish
Caramel, foam blocks, apple and strawberry.

Conclusion: The smell I really liked: Full, sweet and a little more complex. Unfortunately, the taste can not quite keep up. I would have liked the whiskey a little voluminous in the mouth. Above all, I have not found the variety of aromas of the smell in the taste. Nevertheless, a pleasing whiskey.
    - blind tasting -
    • Nose
The whiskey comes full, sweet and slightly woody. Then the alcohol stings something in the nose. Rum raisins, Christmas stollen, but also a little solvent; with woody spices, forest honey, caramel, subtle vanilla.
Later, after the first sips, citrus notes come into play. With a little water, these come as a lemon cake and lemon icing in the foreground.
    • Taste
Distinct alcohol, but only a slight tingle on the tongue; Overall, I would have expected more volume after the Verriechen; even the sweet flavors still hold back, only a little honey I find again. Oak wood, dry spice, a touch of licorice, which quickly disappears. With a little water, the whiskey is sweeter and creamier. Unfortunately, I no longer find new flavors.
    • Finish
The finish is only medium with some oak, dark chocolate and citrus notes.

Despite his young age, this 8-year-old Quiet Man knows how to convince and confidently shows his fruity and multi-faceted side. If I did not know the age, I would definitely rate this malt older. Ripe, complex, wonderfully harmonious and fruity. I like it very much!
    • Nose
Subtle roasted aromas blend with dark fruit flavors right at the beginning. The alcohol is clearly noticeable in the nose, slowly dissolve dark apricots and velvety vineyard peach from the initially rather closed nose. The fruit flavors become suddenly more intense and dominant, orange and forest honey come to the fore, dark caramel blends with a hint of milk chocolate. The apricots and peaches are becoming more and more dominant and stand out powerful. Malty sweetness swells out of the dark caramel, a touch of vanilla rises and ends in echoes of freshly brewed espresso. In the background are slightly spicy wood tones, dried dates and raisins show up. The multi-layered nose makes you hungry for the first sip ...
    • Taste
Powerful, yet somehow thin, the first sip flows over the tongue. Dark orange and peach aromas rest on the tongue for a brief moment, then suddenly chili-like sharpness explodes on the palate, enveloping the tongue with harsh and slightly bitter wood tones. The saliva is instantly stimulated as dark caramel and apricot aroma tries to clear the way through the intense sharpness. It tingles and crackles on the tongue, a more intense citrus note mixes with a spice mixture and intense espresso flavors. Spicy, slightly tart wood elements prepare the transition to echo.
    • Finish
Still the chili-like heat is heating the palate and the tongue. Tart citrus fruits exude their sour aroma, slightly dry and tart wood tones end in old walnut flavor. The complete aftertaste is freshly brewed espresso discreetly in the background, slowly the fruity elements come into their own again. Orange, apricots and peaches mingle with dark caramel and a few drops of honey. At the end, the mouthfeel becomes much creamier and oily, in short, vanilla and sweetness appear, and then the finish lingers with a hint of mint.

8 years ex-Bourbon Cask plus 15 months in Oloroso Sherry Butt - the result is sweet, very fruity and - typically Irish - also very tasty. If the narrow finish were not, it would be even nicer ... Drinks dangerously away like a fruit spritzer.
    • Nose
Strawberries, orange, peach, apple, honey, a touch of vanilla and some coffee
    • Taste
Chili Catch !!! like a young Talisker, sweet and fruity, lots of orange, lots of strawberry jam, honey, coffee, a touch of tobacco
    • Finish
short, sweet and fruity with strawberry jam and coffee

I like it very much, well balanced. The Oloroso barrel puts a stamp on the whole without covering anything. A nice appreciation of the 8-year-old The Quiet Man, which I really like.
    • Nose
fruity sweet, honey, then more and more the Oloroso barrel becomes noticeable, dark fruits, caramel, vanilla, chocolate.
    • Taste
again fruity, a little less sweetness than the nose suggests, creamy, again honey, caramel, oak and herbs, chocolate and spices
    • Finish
In the finish again the whole of the Irish, fruity, soft, balanced, with a touch of dryness and oak

A beautiful dram, fruity and harsh with a clear oak note.
I stick with it: Glenfarclas, Sherrycasks, 10-15 years, max. 50%
    • Nose
      ----- blind tasting ----

sweet citrus notes in the first nose, orange juice, peach, apricot, honey, a hint of caramel, grape seeds, raisins, fresh, followed by a beautiful wood note, oak spreads, brings some vanilla, no alcohol to feel, the nose (citrusy in combination with oak flavor) reminds me of Glenfarclas.
In the second nose clearer vanilla and some white chocolate
    • Taste
sparkling strong start, again clear citrus flavors, lemon, peach, orange, tart maraquja, chocolate, tart oak, herbs and spices follow, clove, slight bitterness, tobacco
    • Finish
Vanilla, caramel, orange peel, bitter chocolate, coffee, oak, old dried walnuts, the oak lingers for a long time

Great stuff! The old barrel has already left its mark. No trace of youth
    • Nose
Very flowery and a lot of honey at the beginning, cherries, strawberries, heather, with time very set oak tones come to light, in the end there is even tobacco or cigar box
    • Taste
Behavior and mild onset, again with lots of cherry and honey, with time, the whole thing is stronger and the oak spice is in the mouth wide
    • Finish
Very balanced and quite long finish, strength, spice and fruit are in wonderful harmony

Very cool! I am really excited. Only 8 years old, but nose, button and finish are at the same high level. The old sherry-butt, in which he was finished, has shown full effect!
    Very well selected by Alba-Import!
    • Nose
Full sweetness with lots of vanilla and cream toffee. Very fruity and mild. Fine sherry notes and minimal furniture polish. Acts much older than 8 years!
    • Taste
Some wood, lots of fruit and a fantastic sweetness!
Again, flavors come to light, suggesting a much older malt, "old, freshly polished cabinet" ...
With the 46% very good drinkable.
    • Finish
Dark fruits, slightly drier. Relatively long and the old cabinet remains until the end. Some chocolate is included, followed by green apples.

On 25.03.2017 the Whiskey Festival Radebeul with Dietmar in the tasting of the opener and just such a hit! In the nose and on the palate extreme fruitiness paired with fine sherry notes ...
It is 2 times distilled single malt from the Cooley Distillery.
3 Bourbon Barrels were finished here in a 35 year old sherry butt. If I understand him correctly, sherry butt was single malt for 35 years. So finish in the second fill Sherry Cask? Did someone listen more closely ???
Anyway, right after the tasting back to the booth and bought! Is already open, Tastingnotes follow ...
