Oh well. Talisker, 25 years old, you can expect more, or. He does his job well in the relationship, that one notes his origin. But 25 years? Where, please, are they to be found here (with the exception of the logging)? Definitely missing here is the certain something you can expect from such a whisky. Well done, but without special accents.
    • Nose
Mild and subtly smoky with hints of red pepper. Red berries such as currant and raspberry emerge from behind the smoke. Peppered dark chocolate. The flavors do not crowd. If you want to catch them, you have to follow them.
    • Taste
Oily onset with a pinch of pepper and berry jam. Spicy (paprika, oregano), directly dark chocolate. The 25 years in the barrel are quickly noticeable with a woody note. It is quickly dry in the mouth, the berries say goodbye, the spice note is intense, fine herbs come. The aroma portion of chocolate increases again clearly, a pepper sharpness shoots in.
    • Finish
Medium-long and dry, peppery and with lots of wood. Later, a banana note moves through for a brief moment.

  2. Bosi scored this whisky 91 points Specialist

One of the hallmarks of Talisker's original bottlings. Just a very tasty whisky. Fantastically balanced, smooth, with a very maritime taste profile, the 25-year-old perfectly represents Talisker's craftsmanship. In my opinion, this bottling is not quite up to the cask strengths of earlier years.
    • Nose
      94 94
A wonderful nose: The typical Talisker smoke is a bit more discreet than in younger bottlings, with flavors of seaweed, shrimp roasted in olive oil, tangerines, roses and reeds.
    • Taste
      90 90
This is probably one of the smoothest Taliskers I have ever had in my glass. It has an almost buttery creaminess with very subtle smoke, brine, citrus and smoked fish.
    • Finish
      90 90
The finish is long and is characterized by lime and green tea. The typical Talisker Chili Catch does not appear at all in this bottling.

  3. dRambo scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

a delicious malt with a nice nose, which is also not too thin on the palate. The nature of the aromas and their intensity - there is no similarity to old bottlings. This one is clean, clean, modern - somehow boring, somehow easy drinking and even for asking prices around 150 € too expensive
    • Nose
      88 88
sweet silky and oily, seawater as a spray in the air, sugar cake with cinnamon, licorice, sweet wine - thick and raisin fruit, with more time clear fresh lemons and lime notes, beautiful sweet and sour balance
    • Taste
      87 87
Citrus and mint, nutmeg and cinnamon, walnut flour, salt liquorice, sawdust, tart lemon syrup with menthol in the background, round, flattering mouthfeel with slightly oily texture - slightly warming
    • Finish
      87 87
Dark chocolate, sherry sweet, a little pepper, medium

Pleasantly charred tire, similar to licorice
    • Taste
      91 91
The typical chili catch comes through here subtly as white pepper.
    • Finish
      91 91
Very long and pleasant, mildly spicy. The best of the otherwise overrated because well marketed next to the dist. Ed.

Ah well, it's a very clean, smooth, and well made whisky this one isn't it? The modern Talisker? Has the right Talisker notes and all but nothing especially stands out. Shall we say, it's a "professional" dram: Well engineered and put together but does lack a bit of passion.

  7. wisekyofcourse scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    a late-night dram!
    • Nose
      iodine, salt side, seaweed
dry peat, dry woody but fragrant
      orange and caramel
    • Taste
      spices quite sweet, varied, intense,
      peat, salt, caramel
wood especially back, tenacious, strong, concentrated wood chips
, a little licorice, some herbs too.
fruits on cooked oranges and mandarins and chocolate
    • Finish
simple on the same scents with woody, salted caramel, smoke more than peat and cooked fruits
      medium to long monolithic finish

  8. Malthead19 scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

    - a super tasty talisker
    - significantly worse compared to the bottling from 2012; it looks fresher and younger in smell, more oak in taste and not as elegant and filigree as the 2012, a little less complexity,
    • Nose
maritime, "fresh", floral, spicy, doesn’t look like a 25-year aging at first
    • Taste
strong spicy start, oak, spices, pepper, maritime
    • Finish
      medium-long, powerful finish;
      long oak-heavy aftertaste

  10. Tangtang_WhiskyYoda scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

finely balanced malt. It doesn't necessarily strike you with complexity, but it's still very tasty and easy to drink. That in turn is a disadvantage at the price because it is too expensive to drink well.
    • Nose
very light soft smoke, sea air, fruity, very slightly sweet, in the background there are citrus fruits such as oranges and lime, leather, nice and refreshing
    • Taste
light pleasant smoke. Somewhat salty but at the same time sweet with fruits, apple, citrus fruits, orange, becoming slightly oily, some chocolate
    • Finish
Dark chocolate, light smoke and maritime notes, sweetish but still becoming bitter, long.

  11. pianoman scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Restrained. Removed smoke and some leather. Mist, salty sea air, behind it oranges and lemons. Wet soil, forest soil, old tree bark. Freshly ground peppercorns.
    • Taste
Elegant, oily. Apricot tart, oranges, mild smoked pepper and a hint of beeswax. Some nougat and dark chocolate. Medium.

Wow— this was an incredibly mellow and easy drinking Talisker. I loved the interplay between the normal peppery smoke of a younger bolder Talisker with the gentle citrus fruits that emerged after two and a half decades in the cask. This had a lovely fruitiness to it that I have never noticed from the distillery. This was delightfully unique and I can really see the appeal.
    • Nose
Dried citrus, peppery smoke, and maritime salt. Sweet subtle smoke and medicinal-mineral notes of smoldering bonfire embers, camphor, menthol, and driftwood. Maritime breeze over sand dunes, black pepper, dried lemon rind, and dried ginger. Hospital notes kept coming to mind between citrus cleaning agents, medicinal herbs, and sea cotton linens.
    • Taste
Medium body with a mellow mild-mannered profile with notes of soft maritime, citrus, and herbal spice. Gentle notes of dried citrus, sea salt, dried ginger, and mellow fruity sarsaparilla. A lovely chalkiness came through with weathered oak and an herbal fruity tea.
    • Finish
Long finish with dried citrus peels and a chalky dryness.

Talisker 25yo. At The Spiritualist, Glasgow, April 2019. A pour was around £17, which I thought was okay for a bar price. Short review at a work event - didn't take many notes in the context. Aroma is bourbon-like, vanilla, oak, smoke, honey. Taste is aggressive smoke given the age, oak, bourbon, rounded honey ... pretty nice. Not too acrid given that it's a Talisker. 3.6/86

After a brief moment of typically bourbon barrel flavors, like some childhood sweets, there is a small acid explosion in the mouth.
      Brine liquorice, quince.
Overall, however, it is too sour and salty for me without a "creamy" opposite pole. Interesting but somehow not tasty

Room temperature when drinking: 15 ℃

Viewing Eyes: golden yellow smell Nose: black pepper, the feeling of large pieces of bacon and bacon is particularly obvious. The waves, the huge tuna, the refreshing ocean, a little shadow of watermelon. A large piece of vanilla cream cake, a little yeast dough, dried papaya, dried sweet potato, cinnamon powder, cardamom, coriander, and ginger spicy. It smells neutral and warm, with a rich oily feeling.
Taste Palate: black and white pepper, sweet and sour and delicious flesh, peat expressions favor bacon, red charcoal, black smoke, sea salt, bacon. Cream of wood type, sea waves, a little seaweed and seaweed, oak.
Finish: Medium long, angelica, Atractylodes macrocephala, fresh milk cake, licorice, mate tea, slightly tongue base and astringent numbness Body: full-fat, moderate weight, no tannin, almost no bitter bottom

    Nose: 90/100
    Palate: 90/100
    Finish: 86/100
    Body: 90/100
    Overall: 90/100

Overall: It was actually 25 years since the first drink of Tesca. The impression was great. The wine was very good. It was particularly strong and strong. Part of Palate's sense of hierarchy, connectivity, and complexity are all great. It is limited by ability and cannot be completely restored. This one is solid and strong, and the wine has a good adaptability to smell and taste.

Little peat and little iodine in the nostrils, but what a subtlety. Old wood, applesauce, porridge, plum, queen-claude, fig, vanilla.
On the palate, it is very oily, hazelnuts, walnuts, elderberry, salted butter, an ounce of caramel. Gingerbread. But the pepper remains very discreet. We think more of wild herbs, fermented fruits, a little molasses and milk chocolate. The finish is long, bewitching, brushwood, anise and cola. Light liquorice in the retro-olfaction.

A pleasant, honored Talisker, beautifully complex. But I feel it much weaker than some other 25-year-old, for example, the bottling of 2012!
    Still a top malt!
Approximately 190.00 € are too expensive for me!
    • Nose
      salty (maritime); Citrus fruit (tangerine, orange), sweetness, very little smoke;
    • Taste
      strong velvety appetizer, pears, melons, caramel, a lot of oak and pepper, salt, light smoke, liquorice, very complex;

Hard to believe this is a Talisker 25.
Lacking almost everything I really adored about there older 25 releases..

No depth, no power, no rough storms on tongue and palate.. this is just a shadow of a strong past.

    ABV might be a cause..

Sorry, but this is not worth the money.

The 25-year-old Talisker comes across as mature, strong and intense, without having lost the typical Talisker notes. A very nice single malt for special moments. Unfortunately, it is too expensive for what is on offer. The 18 year old is the better choice for me.

This is not Talisker's regular smoke and the strong style of the ocean, but it is also a very good whisky. It is undoubtedly high in the grasp of body, cask and agement.
    • Nose
Clove, citrus, almonds, followed by sea water, smoke, oysters, wonderful!
    • Taste
The fascinating malt is reminiscent of those really great whiskies, and we have a very good start. Under the salt water flavor, it provides a wide stage, delicate floral, tropical fruits, oranges, and a little smoke.

    Tasted in a vertical casting 25 - 30 - 35 (2012 Special Release) - 40 (Bodega Series)

The nose starts shy. Sea breeze dominates, and a hint of smoke. Freshly crushed Szechuan peppercorns. Tanned leather and some orange peel, red berries (sour).

In the mouth the onset is very peppery (black pepper) and slightly oily. Orange softcakes, milk chocolate and turkish nougat. Red berries again, but more subtle. The longer it stays in the mouth, the drier it gets.

    A medium-length, dry-woody finish with a slight sweetness

Conclusion: A very tasty drop, but compared to the Caol Ila 25 (my reference drop of older smoker) it is a bit watery and less expressive.

With a lot of good will 84 points from me. The older 10-year Map Label bottling with the same percent I like by far better. You can follow the way of the 25er Talisker well and miss all the more the old Cask Strength bottlings. In my humble opinion, not a good way for Talisker to take.

Imho this is by far the "weakest" of all Talisker 25yo. OB's.

It is lacking the power that should come with Talisker, it is lacking the complexity that should come with this kind of age and it is surely lacking the overall quality that should come with this price tag.

It's possible that this one is simply over-diluted in order to match the typical Talisker strength in alcohol and that it could be much better in CS. But then again, other 25yo. bottlings that came at the same strength of 45,8% abv have actually been significantly better (the 2012 and 2013 editions, for instance).
