A very fine complex dram. Strong peat smoke mitigated and expanded with the distinct Burgundynoten. I like it very much.
    • Nose
A wonderful and special first nose, sweet creamy smoke, thick and full, paired with deep dark red fruit, candied fruits, caramel, chocolate covered strawberries, cherries, raspberries, raisins in trail mix, medium smoke, very well integrated, reminds me of the smoke from Ledaig, like damp, slightly moldy and still warm firewood, a campfire site after a rainy night, Kräsecracker, salty bacon, I like it
    • Taste
Sweet fruity start, slightly tingling and full of red fruits, berries, wine gums, then sets in an intense smoke, which one would have judged from the nose weaker, chocolate, subtle oak, creamy and full, nice intensity, nut notes
    • Finish
begins with wood smoke, immediately afterwards set in intense fruit notes, blackberries, cherries, wine gum, distinct delicate, long-lasting chocolate, oak, a great long finish

This Ballechin lives from its smoky peat note. The Burgundy barrel has left its mark and revives sweet and fruity berries. Although I'm not so fond of smoke, this Ballechin has convinced me. Great malt, I like it!
    • Nose
Intense reddish amber shines out of the glass. After panning, an oily wreath has formed on the glass wall, from which the streaks, tough in slow motion, run back into the glass. A sweet column of smoke rises from the glass, fruity berries dissolve from the smoke, fine peat aroma is added. Spices and a subtle hint of bacon rise up, raspberries and blackberries sparkle from the smoke.
    • Taste
At the first sip, fruity berries flash briefly, before the intense smoky touches over everything. Fruity peat mixes with the intense smoke, the sweet berries return and become slightly sour. Slowly the fruity and sweet berries change into dried berries, the peat and smoke harmonize perfectly, the alcohol is harmoniously integrated. Almonds and hazelnuts rise from the smoke-peat mixture. The taste exudes its smoky peat aroma fruity and tangy.
    • Finish
Powerful and intense, the departure starts. The fruity peat and the fine smoke aroma are still in the air, with sweet grapes and berries sparkling here and there. At the very end of the finish, a bitter and peaty walnut flavor is produced.
