Whisky Reviews for Tomatin 2008 MoS

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.83 points

  1. Malthead19 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    Intense, fruity, still very oaky young single malt.
    But also needs a lot of water.
    • Nose
      83 83
      Without water very strong alcohol in the nose, behind sherry and oak
    • Taste
      85 85
      Fruity sherry, dark chocolate, oak, spice
    • Finish
      84 84
      Long spicy finish.
      Long dry fruity oak-rich finish.

  2. schengel10 scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    A young, very intense, very nutty ("liquid Hanuta") and really good malt!
    [Color] copper;
    • Nose
      81 81
      heavy, liqueur-like, artificially charged (solvent), sweetness, plums and cherries;
    • Taste
      86 86
      diluted: a creamy-creamy onion, fruity, jam, sherry, a lot of honey, nuts, buttery caramel, tobacco;
    • Finish
      84 84
      medium length, creamy and nutty; in the end a little oak;

  3. Dr.Nose scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    The nose has aromas of sweet cherries, orange, passion fruit, sandalwood, cedarwood, maple syrup and pecans. The taste is a combination of notes of creamy vanilla, strawberry, marmalade, sweet tobacco, nuts, honey and barley malt. The aftertaste is spicy and warming with a pleasant drying accent of oak.

  4. Gaija scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    Not totally convinced by this, lacks some fruitiness and the fudge is taking too much place. But well, it's obviously young, so of course I shouldn't expect it to go through the glass ceiling.
    • Nose
      (Festival note) Solventy young sherry, the kind I'm not fond of. Almond liqueur and an omnipresent dose of "vulgar" butterfudge. A smell between solventy and burnt that I have a hard time describing better. Overly flambeed banana.
    • Taste
      Generically and overly caramelised, this really feels like driking varnished liquid butterfudge. Aspecific if not for a some discrete prune-y notes.
    • Finish
      Same vein, sweet.
