Overall, I think this is a decent effort at a port-finished bourbon, which we do not see too often. However, the complexity of the whole is rather low.

This starts sweet with the red wine evidently showing its smells, however the port, wait I should say French fortified wine, is coming through very nicely. There are some plastic off-notes, but they do not really bother me. Lots of blackberries and black currants, sweet popcorn, and a bag full off fruity sweets, maybe even a hint of truffles. Sill sweet after adding some water, but it tends to lose some power. So probably better leave it out.

The bourbon and port clash into an orgy of sweetness, blackberries. I find the level of complexity pretty low in this, however, very nice port notes on the palate. Little amount of tannins and a pleasant acidity. This works surprisingly well with the sweet bourbon notes, and do not make it overall too sweet. Some popcorn, caster sugar, molasses, and slightly herbal finish with notes of sage. Also slightly nutty. Again, I prefer it without water, which increases the acidity along with some drying tannins.

Lots of black currant sweets in the finish.

Great combination of bourbon and port. Together with the alcohol content, it packs a punch. Nevertheless, the individual tastes are easy to interpret. A bit too wild and sweet for me personally. But still worth recommending. So overall quite consistent.
    • Nose
      87 87
Strongly spicy (due to the high rye content), sweet, fruity (sweet cherries, dark grapes and dark dried berries), oak, very little vanilla, lots of caramel, fresh rye bread, tree resin, sherry
    • Taste
      85 85
Strongly spicy (rye, pepper, some cloves), sweet, very fruity (sweet cherries again, dark berries & clear pear), sherry, a hint of cola, caramel, dark bitter chocolate, stronger vanilla than in the aroma, slightly metallic
    • Finish
      84 84
medium length, very fruity (only dark dried fruits), sweet, tart leathery notes, oak, somewhat malty, spicy

Cool part. Young, but it does not taste that way, it's fun, and so a little sweet-wine finish does not harm the Bourbon at all. He is not killed, rather supplemented and I really like that.
    • Nose
very spicy, almost Rye similar intense, fir resin. Cloves, pepper, noticeable spicy wood notes, tendency European oak, tanninreich, a slightly fruity sweetness is there. Spicy and ripe.
    • Taste
Soft and sweet at first, despite 50%, then the pepper and spices come like a hammer blow. The sweetness of the wine, a touch of vanilla and the power of the young whiskey and the barrel make pretty Rabatz in the mouth.
    • Finish
The finish is sweet, on wine notes, vanilla oak, spices and towards the end comes the harsh of the probably European "finish oak", some black pepper at the end.
