Tasted this one blindly, the question was to determine the cask behind the whiskey. Did not guessed the cask type. Or that it was a Rye.

Really rather delicious and it's too bad I only had one sample, because I'm pretty sure this would make a cracking Old Fashioned.
    • Nose
A proper spicy introduction (mainly cloves), supported by a good whiff of oak shavings, shoe polish and a touch of chocolate, burnt caramel and red berries.
    • Taste
Rather creamy and velvet-y, with a slight floral touch and lots of spices: Cumin, caraway, cloves and a tinge of pepper. Also a whiff of cough syrup and bitter oranges.
    • Finish
Short to medium with lingering spices and a subtle caramel sweetness.

    Mac Y Calendar sample

    Drinking neat at room temp

    I don't get American Rye's - sorry

      Dill. Lots'o other spices

Sweet as hell. Reminds me of port wine.

Sour, sweet, pungent. Reminds me of fermenting sourdough, or homemade baking rye bread. If only it wasn't so damn sweet.

      Not really my bag.
    • Taste
      55 55
      Strong, sweet, spicy, pungent.

Dill... the spice is pretty much dill or geranium - and pepper.

      Not really my bag..

Something on the back of my damn throat... can't really place it. Interesting, if a bit... unwelcome.

Dill... just a bit more dill. Maybe a bit fruity as well - citrus.

      Cloying and sweet.

      Not really my bag...

Cool part. Massive Rye Whiskey, direct and straightforward, which gets through the wine barrel despite the young neat depth, without which it is softened.
    • Nose
Very sweet, very spicy, cloves, some dill, also a hint of caraway, clearly Rye whiskey. Seems sweeter than the bourbon, the rye notes keep the oak in check, or it has been shortened. The strong sweetness probably comes from the wine barrel, without the wine against the Rye had much to report, as regards the fine flavors.
    • Taste
neat pepper, much stronger than the bourbon. Pepper, spices, oak, in the background sweet wine notes. Again, a lot of Rabatz in the mouth.
    • Finish
Pepper, oak, sweetish notes of wine, dill, licorice and a slightly musty note.

    Gadverdamme.
Tree resin with spirit put on a nice barrel. Fortunately, it was a sample. I do not drink this.
