  1. rb854 scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Subtle, powerful and full of flavor. Quite nice!
    • Nose
Subtle peat, sweet, vanilla and caramel, diesel fumes, fruity, dried and red fruit, cola, leather, cinnamon, wood and smoke.
    • Taste
Smoke and wood, peppery, red fruits, some raisins, lapsang souchong and leather.
    • Finish
Keeps lingering, lapsang souchong, smoke, red fruit, a whiff of menthol, some sweetness, vanilla.

First rubbery, then fudgy. Lots of blueberry. Orange as well. Water kind of tears it apart, bringing out some apple but not really beneficial.
    • Taste
      87 87
Ashy peat with again a lot of blueberry. Caramel as well.
    • Finish
      86 86
More towards mocha. Orange and a little apple syrup.

Its a bit too heavy on the wood (dryness) and spiciness, which seems to push the rest away.

I prefer its bordeaux brother to this one.

I tasted at the Whisky Festival in 2017. This is what I am interested in.
    • Nose
Great combination of smoked malt and ripening in barrels of red wine. Sweet peat, apple, red fruit, berries, red wine. Sweet gum, eartheniness, earthyness. (91 b)
    • Taste
It tastes just the way you did it when you sniffed. Again excellent blending of peat and barrels over red wine. (91 b)

This is the best of the three new straight from the cask series. I like the Port and Bordeaux type as well, but the Burgundy is my favorit.

Great nose, rich flavors, full bodied and long finish.

    Brilliant start of this year...
