    according to the bottle:

Nose – An intriguing mix of vanilla, burning heather and black fruits with sweet light smoke.
Taste – Unlike any other Tomatin, a salty smokiness with burnt honey and kelp.
Finish – Complex and ever-changing; smoky and sweet.

Rare peated whisky from the Tomatin Distillery with a lovely balance of subtle peat, refreshing fruits and aromatic herbs.

  4. Allandale scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

An uncomplicated whisky, easy drinking. Good balance.
    • Nose
Citrus fruit. Acidic wines, some smoke, vanilla.

Burning heather in the back, black fruit.
    • Taste
Creamy notes, but also powerful. Spicy oakiness, citrus , vanilla, walnuts, hint of smoke.
    • Finish
Medium length. Smokiness in the background .

  5. Falnor scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

In this one the theme is very easy and quite right. Peat is from the earth and that's basically the dram.

Starts very green, young and feisty. A bit of a punch from the alcohol, but mostly the earthy (hint) kind of peat. Some vanilla, leaves and biscuits. The peat isn as heavy as Islay, but dominates the taste.

  6. Albaron scored this whisky 87 points Specialist

A surprising whisky that is delicious, if not a complexity monster. In any case, unusual and exciting. By far the best Tomatin I've ever tasted
    • Nose
Slightly oily, light alcohol, subliminal smoke, fresh Mentol, indefinable strong sweetness, lightly baked warm bread and a hint of sherry
    • Taste
strong alcohol, but sometimes not disturbing, then malty, strong sweetness, slightly bitter and a hint of acidity, then sherry, a few mirabelles and somewhere in between a few smoky clouds
    • Finish
the malt sweetness and the light smoke stay a long time, in between a touch of sherry and the mirabelle plums

Easy whisky for beginners with a reasonable price. One drop of water is help a lot. It will be a divisive one. 82/83.
    • Nose
Citruses, acidic wines, smoke, vanilla and juniper.
    • Taste
Creamy, powerful. Spicy oak, citruses, vanilla, wallnut and touch of smoke.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy.

  8. Jaydee scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Nice, uncomplicated whisky, an every day dram. Well balanced. Sweet taste with hints of vanilla, fruit, some spicyness. Peat and smoke very subtle in the back ground. Finish is medium.

  9. A Dream of Sea did not rate this whisky Member Senior

Well, now I am sitting here and should summarize the Earth. Badly said: something unimportant. Do not get me wrong, the whisky has no mistakes. But somehow no corners and edges. It is a nice introduction to the world of (slightly) smoky whiskys, but not much more. Long-time whisky connoisseurs like to skip this whisky, but for a beginner it is quite exciting, as it shows a nice, round development. In terms of price, that is fine, albeit at the upper end of the acceptable.

    • Nose
Very pleasant in the nose. Not necessarily as easy to describe, but not overcrowded. Vanilla, some wood and a light, aromatic smoke, which used me to small smoldering branches, as they used to light the fireplace.
    • Taste
Nice and creamy. A Tomatin typical note first. What is that exactly? In any case, there is vanilla, but also a nut note, walnut or something stronger hazelnut. A very light spice from the refill barrels. Only then comes some smoke.
    • Finish
A light spice comes through first, slightly woody. The smoky part then continues in the finish. Sweet or vanilla notes I can not find here anymore.
