The 1st release in a series of five limited edition bottlings from
Tomatin that will span 2017 and 2018 called the "Five Virtues" which is a
creative collaboration between the award winning Tomatin distillery and
leading contemporary artist Eva Ullrich.
The Wood edition is matured in carefully selected French (70% 2006
vintage) American (20% 2006 vintage) and Hungarian (10% 1999 vintage)
oak casks
Nose: Dark chocolate, blood orange, rum & raisin fudge, aromatic
tobacco, maraschino cherry, toasted vanilla waffles, creme brulee tops,
warm leather and sweet runny honey.
Palate: A big chewy, spicy and aromatic delivery with caramelised
brown sugar, rum & raisin chocolate, spicy ginger cake, charred
vanilla, butterscotch, dark honeycomb, malty mocha and orange fondant.
Finish: Toasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate, creamy coffee fudge, spicy
vanilla & ginger, aromatic oak, sweet tobacco and charred orange
rind.
Wow plenty to enjoy here, powerful yet elegant with well balanced
fruit, oak and spice. Hard to fault and i can imagine this is going to
be a real crowd pleaser and i would say buy two (one to drink, enjoy and
share and one to keep with the other four in the series so you have the
complete set for a no brainer investment or superb tasting of five
limited edition Tomatin)
