‘Moorish Speysider’
N: No points for guessing its a Speysider but it is less citrusy and floury than others. This Tomintoul has more of a savoury, sweet lemon, spicy character with a prominent clean barley presence at heart. Tastes like some decent spirit here and reminds me very much of Glentauchers 1994 19yo on the nose. Malty, yeasty, edgy, meaty, banana sugar notes come through most strongly.
T: Theres an acute sherbet wine arrival coupled with wood spice streaming in, later turning fresher in turn, all at a lovely pace of change - gradual steps of development. Warm sweet wine all the way through the development with sage and a touch of woody bitter/sweet lemon sherbet.
F: Fresh aniseed sweetness, some bitter lemon, herbal notes and peppered toffee lingers. More indications of good cask wood and quality spirit at the death
C: This is a moorish Speysider, on the sweeter side but never a question of it being too sweet. Ideal strength and presentation at an ideal age.

Nectar, floral, cr Amy, vanilla, fruit, orange, spices.

It says "the gentle dram", yet it's not weak at all. 46% vol. and a distinct and slightly bitter oak taste. Quite light anyway and full of bittersweet fruit flavours, it's a pleasant and enjoyable drink, perfect for a warm spring evening.

The nose is not very strong, it has ginger, plastic, lime and pastry. After taking a sip some hay and wet grass/wood notes strike also soup connotations appear. The finish is pretty decent - sweet and more soup.

Aroma: malt-citrus, bread crumb, lemon slices, butter cream, caramel, monpensier candies, lemonade, light minerals, hay. Over time, vegetable notes, boiled root vegetables, ginger-lemon tea appear.

Taste: spicy ginger, saturated, zest, citrus fruit marmalade, spices and spices, spicy wood.

Finish: slightly bitter willow twig, zest, lemonade, ginger echoes, a variety of wood motifs, medium length, very dense and saturated, the fortress seems to be higher than stated.

Rating: 85

Bottom line: a little different from the usual spider in bourbon, there are no Apple-pears, flowers, a lot of citruses, pungency. Pleased with the density and saturation in taste and at the finish, although simple but pleasant and harmonious whisky.

Fruit salad based on pears, a bit spirity and lacks compexity. An average 46% au naturel example of bourbon wood maturation. Nothing bad, nothing to remember though...

N- Soft, mineral, crisp and fresh mist. Grassy with fragrant of tea.

P- Tea again, tart with hints of spirits with raw honey sweet. Closed. Light texture. F- Smooth, short finish. Peppery with hints of rough spirits at the
tail. Off balance, as spirit overtake the flavours, a fail experiment to
bottled it higher than their usual strength.

Fresh and fruity, nice dram for a sultry summer evening.

nice, easy to drink, fresh and fruity speysider. good influence of the wood, spices and sweetness are around and well balanced. fine dram!

Nose: Light
pineapple and ripe banana. Vanilla. Citrus. 
Light toffee. The nose is not that expressive.

Taste:
Spicy. Some toffee and honeyed sweetness. Light chocolaty bitterness. Some
vegetal/grassy notes.

Finish:
Medium. Light sweetness and bitterness

A nice and interesting summerdram. Some have rated this around 90 points. I don't get that. It lacks the richness and complexity to achieve that kind of rating IMHO.

The Speyside distillery of Tomintoul has added a14-year-old expression to its
line up, which includes 10, 12, 16 and 27-year-old variants, not to mention
Peaty Tang and Old Ballantruan. Light, fresh and fruity on the nose, with ripe
peaches and pineapple cheesecake, delicate spice and background malt. Closer to
barley sugar with the addition of water. Medium-bodied, fruity and fudgy on the
palate. The finish offers wine gums, mild, gently spiced oak, malt and a
suggestion of smoke.

Very fresh and vivid whisky. Sour-sweet, crisp, easy-drinking.

it took me a few times to appreciate it, fresh, smooth, round taste, it really has a lot of complexity, probably thanks to its 46% whereas most of the other Tomintouls are only 40%... considering the price (around EUR 40) an even better whisky... great dram, try it

Soft and round taste. Flower-like and

malty flavor to the connoisseurs a warm welcome achivied.

The sweet tones and peppery aftertaste is an affordable

malt with special flavors for variety

Nose, light clean floral notes, like daffodils, white fruits, and subtle oak. Taste, pears, vanilla, oak wood. Body is light. Finish is long and sweet. Price is average and presentation is typical.

One of Speyside’s youngest distilleries, Tomintoul has been a relatively
shy performer until recently, when a raft of new releases (some peated)
have appeared. This non-chill filtered example is, for me, the best of
the bunch.

A meadow in the evening, flowers in the nose. Fresh cutted barley with some honey in the mouth. A sweet middle long finish brings that bottle to a good choice, buy it.
