Whisky Reviews for Tormore 1992 ED

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.00 points

  1. ScotchGuyTO scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

The nose on this leads in the right directions, but the palate takes a long time to open up, the smoke is a really lovley addition to Tormore's typically soft style. This is a sharp whisky for 25 years but it rewards as it opens. There’s a lot going on, busy even, but it’s deliciously light.
    • Nose
      88 88
The nose is lovely and fresh, smoke and sherry lead with malt sweets and soft oaky pudding follow. The smoke is rather intriguing, makes you want to dig a little deeper.
    • Taste
      86 86
The palate is sharp oak and floral, sherry cake sweetness and hints of coffee bitters, some sort of fir tree in there too strangely enough. For the pearl of Speyside, it’s quite a hitter!
    • Finish
      83 83
The finish is a little hot, tingling oak and sandalwood, vegetal notes and Turkish coffee with some spices (clove and cassia).

Beautiful ripe sherry notes. A hint of peat smoke.
Wow! This is a really mature whisky. Sweet toffee sauce. Strong on the tongue. Spicy oak.

  3. Bishlouk scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A very particular profile, very austere. But that does not miss assets for the amateurs who look for whiskys which leave the beaten tracks. This austerity also results in the fact that this Tormore is not easy to access at all, and takes time to devote to it. A whisky not to be rushed. But once inside, very nice.
    • Nose
Powerful, on dry apple and fruity dust. A certain freshness is revealed little by little. A rather particular nose, austere. After aeration, varnish becomes noticeable.
    • Taste
Here too, austerity is in order. Petrified white fruit, dry spicy spices, and a lot of minerality (chalk, lime).
    • Finish
A bitter wave passed, crushing a slight acidity that wanted to be born. Then comes a dusty dryness.
