I like this a bit better than a few of the other 1973/1975 speyside fino casks bottled in the last year or so. I would score this a 91.5 if I can. I'll round up, I guess.
    • Nose
A bit closed initially with a bit of straw and grass... then some tanginess and a whiff of sharp citrus fruits. Also peaches and a hint of oiliness, or is that smoke? Not obviously fruity, but I got a feeling they're hiding..
    • Taste
Very well-balanced attack with fruits, oil, pebbles. A bit spicy, but again, very harmonious. Good complexity. The only thing I would improve on would be the mouthfeel -- it's a bit thin, and perhaps not as much of a juice-bomb as I would like.
    • Finish
Unlike some of the other recent 1973/1975 speyside finos, there is just the right amount of oak in this one. I do not detect the flat, woody, slightly cardboardy finish that I detect with for example the Sansibar Old Mask 1973.

Tasted this gem at the 5 year jubilee tasting of Passie voor Whisky in June 2017

Nose: A lot of different fruits most of the more exotic / tropical kind, mouthwatering to say the least.

Really a alot is going on in the taste, all different fruits and wood notes. Mandarin and mandarin skin comes to mind. Also something fresh, like menthol is hiding in the distance?

the finish is long and pleasant and balanced.

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=260 Color : pale gold Nose : very fruity! Calvados apples, raspberries, pineapple and creamy whipped cream. In the background there are aromas of smoky leather, tobacco leaves and mint. Nice nose! Taste : fruit, wood and delicate smoke. Waxy honey, a dull spiciness and green notes of eucalyptus. Getting more and more bitter. Hmmmm ... Finish : Long - eucalyptus and peppermint aromas in a woody-resinous freshness! Green, sticky-fresh and with malt, honey, vanilla and delicate fruit. Note: The nose does not suit us in any way for the departure. 500 euros for this bottle? 87 points (nose: 91 / taste: 86 / finish: 84)

Speyside Region Malt 41 yo 1975 (46,9%, Antique Lions of Spirits ‘Bird label’ 2016, Fino cask, 230 btl.)Nose: lovely freshness. Entirely on pineapple and beeswax, always a
treat. Tangerines, mirabealles, guava and a few white cherries. Light
tobacco notes behind the fruit salad. Very subtle herbs (verbena) and
mint. Buttercups and honey. Those casks, just wow. Mouth: a mix of
fruits and polished oak, constantly cross-fading. Oranges, Grand
Marnier, mint and eucalyptus. Peppercorns. Hints of tobacco and camphor.
Green mango, lemons and juicy grapefruits. Herbal honey. If I remember
correctly, this one is a little more spicy and oaky than the Speyside 1975 from Sansibar last year. Finish: long, minty, with green tea and coconut. Something of old Calvados too.
Great stuff, I have informed you plenty of times about the very high
quality of this parcel of casks, this is no exception. Around € 495.
    Score: 92/100

Like a point better than the last vintage, great barrels the ALOS got there and of course one of the most beautiful packaging in recent years.
    • Nose
Opens after a short time really nice, you can also add a few drops of water, then comes a great, aromatic, almost perfume-like blend of flower meadow, toffee, cotton candy, rose water, grapefruit juice, pineapple, pear, papaya, vanilla, marzipan, Licorice, white tea, nettle melon
    • Taste
Again, the bright, aromatic notes would have a mental color, it would be almost white with a light pink, pear, grapefruit, rose petals, papaya, pineapple juice, vanilla, marzipan, licorice, white tea, nettle melon, light raisins and grapes, green apple
    • Finish
Ginger, moist tobacco, licorice, rose water, light honey with some lavender and rosemary, long

Excellent and fresh nose but I couldn't ignore the soapy mouth. The palate was anyway less exciting than the recently tasted 1973 43 years old. Despite all of this, a very good whisky.

    Tasting notes from september 2017.
    • Nose
The usual fruits and beeswax. Apricots, exotic fruits, apple, aromatic herbs, mint.
    • Taste
Fruity, slightly oaky and ... soapy. Apples, citrus (lemons, grapefruits), honey, spices, mint. A bit grassy. With time, the oak is less loud but the soap remains.
    • Finish
      Long, vegetal.

A nice fino Speysider, very mellow and pleasantly fruit, but rather soft. Might have been better if bottled earlier
