it does promise on that nose which really sold it for me which is a shame as it doesn't live up
5 drops added: nose stands up, but not much changed - still very enticing; palate did not much change, maybe a little blander. The finish loses something of the maltiness becoming cleaner. Certainly not an improvement. 16 drops more:nose has gone south, palate uninspiring; finish flattens out

Nose: pungent, voluptuous; certainly seems refill given the age. It seems rich enough that it could be a weak refill sherry rather than refill bourbon; there is glue in here plus apple juice. You can sit on the nose for quite some time, especially as the ABV does not whack you around the head

that’s pretty thin to start but it does build but not to something awesome

short->medium; quite malty and cereally; some bitterness creeps in as well to mar the party - stink; some furring as well

It's a little bit of everything minus peat and smoke. Too basic for me.

**Edit** Halfway through the bottle, I'm changing my original score of 77 to 83. Nose has become more fruity, palate a little sweeter. Feels as if a little sherried sweetness was hiding all the time!
    • Nose
Fresh fruit, malty and floral as a first impression. Pineapple, unripe banana, apricot, cane sugar, solvent, cardboard, freshly-cut grass, apple juice, cereal, cookie dough, sour cherry, strawberry, vanilla, honey, butterscotch, citrus and a little cinnamon. Nothing robust but very delicate and friendly on the nose. Sweet and sour is kept in good harmony. Despite its age it has that feel of 'freshness' you would find in a 10 year old whisky. I don't know if that's a good thing, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Enjoyable but not mindblowing.
    • Taste
Thin to medium mouthfeel and because of the angels' share, very drinkable for a cask strength whisky. More of the nose as sweet fruit evolves slowly into a malty and floral mass. Apple juice, citrus, kiwi, dried apricot, ginger, vanilla, toffee, baklava, honey, oak, port wine, faint sulfur and a little underlying sherry character. Less complex than the nose and it turns a little too dry for my liking after a few moments.
    • Finish
Quite long. The sweet fruit is dominant at first but after a while the classic malty taste is that what lingers.
