  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I think Cadenhead's can only be really tasty or up front. That's Category # 2. Too aggressive alcohol, I do not recognize Bowmore, nothing interesting, there is no spark, no thinning brings nothing or leads to death. So even for 30 instead of 70 € I would not want to have.
    • Nose
Pineapple Gold Bears, lots of white pepper (or pungent alcohol?), Breadcrumbs, a splash of dry champagne, Haaatschi! ... + water: pineapple away, + water: sparkling wine away, + water: breadcrumbs away (pepper / alcohol still there ), + Water: Exitus
    • Taste
creamy milk chocolate, over-ripe banana, intense sharpness, strong, woody bitterness, burned, it does not get much better with water, the sharpness goes down a bit, banana unfortunately too, burnt rolls and milk chocolate remain -> not very exciting
    • Finish
long, depending on the dilution in exchange, milk chocolate or burnt bread roll

Neat Bowmore. No more, no less.
    • Nose
slightly sweet tart fruit, chalky, vanilla, dry smoke, honey, including some grassy, orange, quite pleasant, creamy, alcohol well integrated, almonds, malt, cereals, salt, slightly maritime, especially after a little time in a glass
    • Taste
creamy, sweet, orange, vanilla, herbs, honey, ashy smoke, cereals, oak on the palate, tart, does not even look as intense despite the strength of the barrel
    • Finish
Fruit bowl, like the inside walls of orange, if you chew on it for a longer time, still slightly sweet, warming, almonds, then you can feel smoke again

  3. Helgo scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

I tried it one more time now and would slightly lower my initial 89 points. Nevertheless, the whisky has a very interesting nose for me and also the flavor I like the special note and heavy oiliness of the whisky with this special spicy and herbal note, which stretches long and flashes again and again. Then for an initial issue price of less than 70 euros really not that expensive, but for a 14yo Bowmore in cask strength completely ok,

Nose: greasy smoke, soot, salty vegetable stock with a splash of lemon, yeast, malty sweetness, no oak Taste: which has power, peppery and warm, but with a nice lemon sweetness and light honey, damn sweet on the finish with some pepper and even a hint of cinnamon, light oak but only slightly bitter (rather freshly sawn wood)
Conclusion: looks younger than on paper and has amazing strength and for a Bowmore neat smoke. Full of character, powerful and delicious!

Bowmore can also do without a sherry barrel. This one makes no compromises and makes no prisoners. Nice combination of smoke and fruit. Direct, straight Bowmore from the Bourbon barrel. wlak 17-3
    • Nose
Mild smoke with tropical fruits. Cold campfire. Fresh cow dung in wet pasture. A heaving yesterday field. The opens more and more, the connection smoke and fruit (oranges, lemons, pineapple).
    • Taste
Poet, cold smoke lies on the tongue. A layer of ash comes right behind. Green apple. Old wooden floorboards crunch. At first, bitter herbs want to bring bitterness into play, but an occurring honey note knows how to lessen this. Then again a swing in the other direction, black pepper and paprika spice give it a pleasant sharpness. Almost chili sharpness. Is there still tomato juice around the corner?
    • Finish
Medium long and slightly dry, smoky, still with a good portion of pepper, but also the fruit notes from the nose and the palate, which combine nicely with the smoke.

At a blind tasting i would have thought it´s a Ardbeg.
Peated caramel next to the sea comes to mind.89 points
