    Superb
    • Nose
A fine nose, lots of depth to it. Really nice sherry like an old Macallan but even better.

Sherry, cream and some distant red plum but then a lovely floral note like a real quality rose bouquet.

Finally some coffee notes add a layer of complexity.
    • Taste
Flawless sherry here mixing in with juicy dark fruits and dark fruit jams but also some strawberry coming in.

Fudge, caramel and some nice spices in the mix with a little cream
    • Finish
Medium length but who cares when the quality is this good.

Simply magnificent, dense aroma. The abundance of fruits and berries. Salty, peppery in taste. Great!

I feel like sitting in a tobacco shop in Havana - of course all unlit. Fantastic!
    • Nose
      92 92
Yes, milk and butter caramel, acacia honey, spices, nutmeg, cloves, sugar cane, hints of green fruits and little leafy, sherry wood and whiffs of smoke - very good!
    • Taste
      93 93
Oily, liquorice, creamy, mellow, more caramel and toffee, also a bit espresso, wet tobacco, more leafy notes, oak wood, old books, subtle sweetness, more spices - great!
    • Finish
      91 91
Medium long, warm, zesty, more toffee and tobacco

What a characteristic Laddie. Mr. Samaroli
understood his job very well. :)
    • Nose
Sherry, honey, milk caramel, dried plum, raisin, citruses, antique leather and spicy oak.
    • Taste
Creamy. Sherry, milk caramel, honey and forest fruits. Pepper.
    • Finish
      Long, dry, spicy.

Let me put this in perspective for you.

Here is another sherried wonder according to most pundits

This Laddie is much better, better nose, better palate, more going on, a great dram.

I love a whisky that caresses my palate rather than smashing it, this sort of whisky ticks all the boxes for me.

Nose: sherry aromas, honey, oranges, lemon, salt, very spicy and dry. Ham, Cheyenne pepper, tobacco and leather. Slightly peaty-smoky and very powerful for 43%.
Taste: Harmonious, creamy-soft onset, malt, caramel, cocoa and chocolate, cereal notes, more powerful, large sherry notes with orange liqueur, very salty.
Finish: Very long (although it's not cask strength!) - keeps pushing. Dry spicy ending. Delicious!

Killer! Quite simply. The mouth is very slightly below probably suffering from the reduction. But what a nose! What a finale! Very complex, very balanced. It's extremely intense, and say it's small!
    • Nose
Very sherry on the nose: rancio, chocolate, mocha, hazelnut, lots of hazelnut. Honey, tobacco. A slight metallic side (OBE?). It is very complex, very rich and very intense for a whisky at 43%. At aeration, it becomes oily, caramel and more hazelnut.
    • Taste
Franche. Pretty lively. Interesting texture, quite fat. Some sweetness: honey, caramel. A lot of spices and more wood than nose. To cook, pepper, a hint of bitter almond. Only false note, a slight hollow in the middle of the mouth.
    • Finish
Very, very long. On a slight woody bitterness and notes of tobacco box and pepper.

  10. QuarterCentury did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Wonderfully lush fruity complexity at first with notes of passion fruit, guava, nectarine, green bananas, pineapple, kiwi and typically huge notes of fresh melon. This is all well integrated with the classic Bruichladdich sea air, citrus, brine and coastal zing. Endless, complex, dazzling and beautifully composed malt.
