…and it is a good but not earth-moving Springbank. Easy to drink but with some minor flaws that are not annoying, luckily.
The nose is a little punchy with cheesy/sweaty aromas first but this goes away after some time of breathing. Then it shows a nicely malty and somewhat fruity profile with herbal aromas added. The most interesting ones I found were candied lemon peel and lemon grass.
The palate is balanced but not layered on mainly barley sugars, honeys, spices and some fruits. Water smoothes the taste but surprisingly flattens the nose. I like to nose it neat and drink it a little reduced.
The initial mouthfeel is warming and a little coating with slightly drying-astringent feelings (plastics). The finish is of medium length and more spicy/woody with a minor drying end (plastics again).
