Nose: Beautiful, elegant and fruity nose, ripe citrus notes, very clean, marzipan, apricots, bananas, honey and well integrated smoke. Baklava, heather honey, lemon balm, slightly dusty but very balanced, complex and elegant. Then freshly sawn wood, nutty, gets better and more open with time. A really wonderful fragrance.
Mouth: Very tasty, sweet, elegant, again great ripe citrus notes, honey, quite phenolic, but barely with obvious smoke. Heather, fine maritime freshness, flowery, yes, but without the typical lavender tones for this time. Really honey honey, caramel, earthy, fine dryness, but always honey and ripe fruitiness.
Finish: Long, still honey and fruit, supplemented by phenol and elegant dryness.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, I do not remember who I got this sample from and who I can thank for it. So thank you to Unknown for this delicious malt, which proves what great malts Bowmore was able to produce in the 1980's.
