Whisky Reviews for Auchentoshan 2001 LMDW

A very suitable dram. An atypical profile for this Auchentoshan. I loved the nose after opening, the mouth fruity but unfortunately the final too short leaves me on my hunger.
    • Nose
A fresh nose, not at all aggressive despite its 59.2%. It needs time to open, too light at first it quickly takes all its measure. We are on a fruity nose, with strawberries, blackberries and mirabelles. For accompaniment, we have the right to vanilla and honey flowers (sweet side).
    • Taste
Attack first too light, it rises crescendo in the middle and end of mouth. We have fruity & sweet notes (sweets). The spices (pepper) arrive gradually as well as the notes of new wood.
    • Finish
A short finish (too much!) On fruit residue, oak and spices. A slight bitterness mixes with vanilla.

A singular nose. A little closed at first. Ripe plums. In the mouth, alcohol not violent at all. Very fruity (juicy fresh fruits), which tend towards exoticism in the finish, a little irish in style. The aromas remain "in front of the mouth", but do not follow in the throat. Limited persistence. Not very opulent from this point of view. A very unusual but pleasant profile! Enthusiasm 4/5 Whisky n ° 1419 (Tasted blind)

N: Very green, both herbaceous and unripe fruits. Cologne. Very spirit and uninteresting.
B: A little more fruit attack, almond paste, but the alcohol is quickly felt and a very green bitterness.
    F: Long but unenthusiastic

Far from being convinced. I certainly totally missed. 77
