      Vanilla sugar, red apple, honey and citrus.
    • Taste
      Sugared almond, honey, apple, citrus, liquorice and a dirty twist. More citrus when adding water.

      Vanilla sugar, honey, almond and malt.

    A good friend for all days - very easy-drinking - add 2 drops of water!
    • Nose
      Liquorice, maple syrup, honey and bourbon vanilla, fruit bread and malt, oriental spices - with the addition of water, beautiful orange flavors
    • Taste
      Honey sweetness with a hint of caramel over it, spice orange and some wood
    • Finish
      medium long, sweet and spicy - still very soft

    The virgin oak had it's effect on this whisky. This is especially felt on the palate and in the finish. The nose is more like a classic Speysider, but the new wood has simply released to many sweet and spicy notes. The finish was too long in my opinion.
    • Nose
      Speyside as Speyside can be. The honeyed, malty style reminds me of old school whiskies from the Speyside. Yet this is certainly a more modern version. It's younger, more driven by active oak. To start with, there is toasted bread and honey, pastry, malt and the like. Quickly, vanilla, coconut and melon reveal themselves. Further, there is a good dose of mint, and a hint of wood.
    • Taste
      Not shure if there is something old school to be detected here. The palate is well rounded, yet with a kick of the alcohol. It's rather driven by barley sugar, together with some oaky notes of coconut, vanilla and allspice. Water helps to remove the dominance of the barley sugar and to reduce the kick of the alcohol It releases fruitier notes of white/yellow orchard fruit, apricot, and melon. 
    • Finish
      Moderate, still well rounded, rather spicy and a hint of sour notes. The toasted notes return, just as the melon and spice.

      Toasted aromas of toasted bread. A sugar sweet wave pushes on. Honey, sweet vanilla, bubble gum, honey melon. Flowery, fresh hay. The alcohol stays very cool and only slightly cools the nose. Pickled pear, light fruit jam. With some time in the glass comes white chocolate and caramel. Light citrus notes and some spice in the background.
    • Taste
      Pleasant, sweet start. The alcohol slides. But very mild for 57.3%. Apricot, pear, slightly sour orange, caramel and vanilla. In the taste then but clear spice. In the background are the roasted flavors of toast and bitter cocoa.
    • Finish
      Medium long with cocoa. Sweet, creamy mouthfeel. Subtle seasoning and slightly dry.

    SMWS tasting notes:

    The nose is sweetly perfumed (honey, flowers, crème brûlée, sherbet straws with subtle orange – we also detected putty, wax and dusty oak. The palate holds great textures and wonderful flavours – the sweetness of chocolate, fly cemeteries and Eccles cakes, orange and lime sharpness and delicious spices (ginger, cardamom, clove); some wood embers and drying leather haunt the finish. The reduced nose has old-fashioned floral perfumes, Battenberg cake and orange and lemon jelly slices. The palate is juicy and delightful – sweetly citric, with amoretti biscuits and soft cinnamon. After 15 years in ex-bourbon wood we transferred this to a virgin oak hogshead.
