balanced bourbon maturation, savory leather, vanilla, oakiness, chalk, lovely nose
    • Taste
      88 88
syrupy texture, intense vanilla, dried apricot, understated lemon peel note, developing spicy notes
    • Finish
      87 87
lingering, sweet lemon, phosphor, green peppercorn, malt and vanilla

  3. Calmar scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Uncomplicated, but juicy and drinkable whisky, with a slight sensation of stuffiness and some kind of antiquarianity.
    • Nose
Open, dry, dusty boards, grain, coated tablets, malt, carpentry, solvent, wood glue, some dry herbs.
    • Taste
Rich, soft, sweet-woody, dust, grain, caramel sweetness, a little pepper, lemon zest, tobacco, mixed notes.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, oak, grain, caramel, dust, fortunately, was gone; dry herbs.

The first nose is funny. Definitely something different. Has something. After that it is a relatively normal malt from the Bourbon barrel. However, a good representative of this guild. I like it.
    • Nose
Immediately after pouring a bit mineral. That settles after a few minutes but then clearly. These notes are now rather nicely integrated into the rest of the aroma. Then comes herbal honey. Again and again some garden herbs and flower meadow. Fruit is there too. Rather herbier apricot jam. Oranges and orange peel. Now some apple and carrot salad. In addition, rather dusty, dry wood notes.
After the first sip, the nose becomes more "normal".
    • Taste
First, creamy. The honey is back. Some marzipan. Caramel candy. Then sea buckthorn, yellow gooseberry and not really ripe khaki. Malt sweetness. Now a certain sharpness comes up. Ginger. Now the fruits are more sour and bitter. Natural cloudy apple juice with lots of lemon. Grapefruit. Then the oak comes and brings the spice.
    • Finish
Apple and pear peel. The spiciness / pungency subsides and it creates a pleasantly warm mouthfeel. In addition, it gets drier and woody notes spread.

In the beginning I actually perceived the nose and taste of root vegetables as described by Serge / Angus. Great! Unfortunately only half full, I miss these nuances, but a buy recommendation!

Really a lovely, nicely balanced bourbon maturation - nose.
Ripe fruits like pineapple, blackcurrant and tinned peaches, cola, camomile, jasmin. hints of hessian and waxed jackets.
    • Taste

Wow, even better than on the nose! It´s totally mouthfilling, salivating. Very much on blackcurrants and gooseberry, apples and perhaps pears. clean and fresh, wonderful play between fruity-sweet and bitter (cola)
    • Finish
      91 91
very long, slowly drying with a salty touch

Headline: Hogshead. The heart is laughing. A class of its own. He is loved or disrespected. For me he hits the bullseye. 95 Benrinnes are always exciting.
The barrel # 9095 from RG is a mature dream. BaseNr.72613

The full USA program in the nose. Vanilla, lime with lemon and some sour cucumber behind it? But then again moist hay with floral notes. Powerful. Wow.
    • Taste
      87 87
A thick buttery spice of dark pepper and Christmas cookies. Candied fruits on orange peel. Many still say ginger, ok ... I call it very spicy. Creamy mouthfeel. A dream.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium to long he hangs yogurt-like and constantly supplies. Spicy fruity. Spicy fruity. Spicy fruity. He is simply knitted but at a very high level. Respect.

I like fruity drams and this is stunning! A great purchase.
    • Nose
Cream and lemon, peach, very fruity.
    • Taste
Peach water, extremely fruity, lemon oil, fresh melons.
    • Finish
      Medium and sweet, milk chocolates.

Pretty crazy combination of aromas, for 40 € less I would be very weak. A bit longer and more exciting finish would be nice. Nice to have a sample.

    Color: pale gold
    • Nose
From the sample bottle rises an intense fragrance between lilac and dill. Pretty much dill. In the glass, the whisky then needs a minute to unfold its full aroma. In addition, woodruff and mango. A drop of vegetable stock, cereal. Floral sweetness, elderflower syrup. Cucumber water? More elderberry with water.
    • Taste
Without water: elderflower and dill. Reminiscent of the Glendalough Mizunara finish. Woodruff, little wood influence, block malt, nutmeg. With water: blockade, tea. Less dill.
    • Finish
      Remains of elderflower. Malty. Medium.
