This is my last sample in a series of 4 Glenburgie bottlings. Typical summer whisky I would say. I cannot say though that Glenburgie is in my top 10 of favorite distilleries.

The nose immediately reminds me of warm summer days. Kinks record on, while Rays Davies sings "Lazing on a sunny afternoon". Nice and sweet. Vanilla and tropical fruits. Some drops of water make things even better.
    • Taste
      87 87
Bit oily and fruity for sure. Bit sharp as well (even with water); it is the pepper?
    • Finish
      86 86
Not that long (medium), and in the end slightly dry and bitter.

Good Burgie. If you can find it for under €100,- you should buy one!

My preference is with CS, so this is more in my alley. The peaty, earthly character came as a surprise, but is a mild, pleasant form.

Strange. The first thing you smell is a kind of peat and glue. But a fraction later it is gone and the fruity character comes forward. Again apple and pear, something banana. But that earthy one of the peat is behind it. A little bit of wax.
    • Taste
      88 88
The fruity is like a string of earthy flavors: wood, wax, and yet again a hint of peat. Pepper.
    • Finish
      87 87
Firmly spicy, bitter with a little sweet. Remains nice and creamy paste on the tongue.

    • Nose
      88 88
Fruity (citric, tropical fruits), vanillacustard, floral notes, a bit of cocos, creamy
    • Taste
      88 88
Creamy tropical fruits, vanilla, some pleasant bitterness, again some floral notes. Well integrated indeed.
    • Finish
      85 85
Can't deliver what nose and taste promise. Medium, slightly bitter fruits.

    Nice fresh dram.
    • Nose
      88 88
Sizzling fragrance, pineapple, (green) banana, kiwi, caramel, citrus
    • Taste
      89 89
Fruity with especially grapefruit. Also grass, mint and a slight bitterness
    • Finish
      88 88
      Medium, fresh and slightly drying

I'm a sucker for this style. A lovely whisky.
    • Nose
Dry oak, and faint dry smoke. A bit of wax and some wafers, also uncooked pasta. With water the bourbon in the oak becomes more prominent. I adore this tannic, woody note that speaks of a good cask. Juice from tinned pineapples or pears, white dessert wine, and a bit of varnish.
    • Taste
Sweet, juicy, and with a good amount of that slightly sour aged oak note I love. Some bourbon and dried malts. Water makes it fruitier, sweeter and on all accounts better. By the body and taste I could easily believe it's older than 17. A great balance all told. Harmonious, even.
    • Finish
Long, with faint dill and liquorice, but mostly on ripe white fruit. Some oak lingers in the background.

  9. thijs100 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Complex, creamy and fruity, those are the ingredients for what is ultimately a very successful Glenburgie.
    • Nose
Feint citrus notes with a hint of beeswax and some stone fruits as well (nectarine, peach). Finally some barley sugar, toffee and banana. Well-integrated.
    • Taste
Nice creamy mouthfeel, followed by a big hit of fresh pink grapefruit. A very nice arrival, followed by more of an oaky bitterness and mellow grassy notes, as well as nectarines and lemon zest. Finally a pinch of salt.
    • Finish
The salt lingers surprisingly long, backed up by lemons and grass.
