    initially i
felt bad because the local price of macallan
12 kept dwindling down, having bought my bottles at $54, now it’s just $46. but
when a friend gave me a sample of this, first thing i
noticed was the very pale color, not red at all compared to the macallan
was used to. tasting it confirmed my suspicion, that this is not the macallan
of old, in fact it’s barely a shadow of what it used to be. when macallan
used to be a sherry bomb, this is barely a sherry firecracker, light tasting,
worn down casks, watered down, followed by spices and finishes with bitter wood
notes. and despite the lower price, i
still won’t pay $30 for this pale shadow passing off as a macallan,
    so disappointing.

*there's a possibility of the bottle being counterfeit/fake

Ok drinking whisky with caramel, sherry, hay and some green apples. But watery in the mouth. This is not the drink it used to be, many years ago... I tasted an older version (a bottle form the '90ies) a while ago, and the difference with the 2017, 2018, 2019 edition is staggering! More recent versions of this whisky seem to go down in quality with every new dram that Macallan brings out (unfortunately). I guess that upscaling their production has let to a loss of quality and identity. It's not my favourite, but it is for sure an ok day to day drinking whisky!

Somewhat a watery taste with pepper and brown sugar, hint of pasta and bread. Subtle and smooth to drink. But it's not super pleasing...

I expected something longer and more complex... But it is ok. For me: a feint hint of detol, combined with cappuccino, rosemary.
