    • Nose

Very interesting: initially a grassy and almost Ledaig like peatiness indeed. Burnt grassy roadsides, just a tad rubbery and farmy. A small amount of stale green notes and very nutty (walnuts, roasted peanuts). Later on it becomes sweeter with many citrus fruits, some dried liquorice root and even a distant note of mustard.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweeter than the nose, oily, syrupy citrus, lemon zest, honied liquorice, some burnt grasses, a little ashy bitterness and lots of black pepper. Great balance.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long: sweet honied liquorice and a lasting but not overpowering bitterness of scorched twigs and charcoal.

  2. PEATYBOI scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

On the nose, fresh grass, light peat, liquorice. A very fresh nose. If you were to take way the peat, this is akin to the classic lowland style.

On the palate, lemonade, citrus, lemongrass and some old-fashioned hard candies. Smoke and peat is also appraent.

The finish is medium, warm, smoky and grassy.

A Ben Nevis that is different from the profiles you would expect from the distillery.

Unusual pleasent peat. Surprisingly light for such abv
    • Nose
Nice and gentle smoke, delicate. Light peat not wooden, rather organic like smoked cheese
    • Taste
Sweet candies  at the beginning, getting bitter later on such as unripe kiwi
    • Finish
Smoke again  but much less than at nose. Balanced, just a bit short

  5. Owidram scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nose is a bit aggressive when neat.
Really needs a drop of water, such as the mouth, which thickens and shows lovely honey/floral and citrus notes then.
And it is extremely balanced and lively then.
Beetween grassy notes and more sugary. and some bitter. Really interesting.
Length may me the week point here are it's not so lively or interesting as mouthfeel is, just, say, typical Bourbon cask finish, quite active.
Final disappoints me a bit but it's still a very nice single cask.
Honestly, the peat is not very present, I don't think it brings anything to the malt.

Gentle, round smoke, sweetness and long finish. Wery pleasant dram!
