    Ben notes:

8th November 2006, 216 bottles, first fill bourbon

Nose - Cake at first (this bottle is just opened), then bright cereal, cheap cherry jam and strawberry chews in their paper (there's a slightly odd fruit | cardboard thing going on here). With digging, some interesting earthy notes, chalky bon bons, burnt candle wax and a little pritt stick. Even more waxed fruit with water and a little freshly cut red chilli.

Body - Intense strawberry chews, perhaps red liquorice, lots of wood sugars and fruit (grapefruit zest and freshly squeezed orange juice) and a great waxy heat. Spicier with water, but still delicious.

Finish - Medium, more grapefruit zest, a little Sichuan pepper… sour oils. Longer and hotter with water.

Despite the name, this is as fruity and delicious as I had expected it to be from the distillery number. A bright, fruit driven whisky with lots of interest. A strong start! Recommended.

Sauffiger straight draw, easy drinking despite barrel strength. He does not offer much surprises and I would not really describe him as a masculine, on the contrary, nevertheless he is fun and not boring.
    • Nose
Many sweet aromas, caramel, vanilla, fruit chewy sweets, sweet perfume, the nose does not seem so masculine at first. Over time, a slight sweaty note comes along, reminiscent of a dressing room, should that mean masculine? No, that too can not be, but it is not too intrusive and clean. Even the late emerging eucalyptus and the lemon are not male. Some floor wax, a little butter, candied yellow fruit and roasted almonds, it stays sweet. Maybe some more pipe tobacco. Very late fermented apples. Warms even creamier, otherwise no change. The alcohol is very well integrated.
    • Taste
Also in the mouth, first a sweet attack, before white pepper gives a short tip and behind some herbs are scattered. Vanilla, caramel sweets, the second sip it is significantly more herbs, again only briefly, the finish, he is clearly sweet again. Creamy in the mouth, too. Again, the alcohol is perfectly integrated.
    • Finish
The finish is relatively short, he sounds sweet and husch he is gone ...

    SMWS tasting notes:

The nose had foamy shrimps, nougat, honey and strawberry chews, but also an aromatic array of manly, masculine notes – woollen sweaters with leather elbow-patches, Victory Vs, Oddfellows, ginger, cinnamon and snuff. The neat palate was a definite ‘Wow!’ – ginger biscuits, muscovado on roasted peaches, brandy snaps, Peshwari naan and something medicinal (tincture of clove, Euthymol). Water brought cricket bats and upholstery shops to the nose; plus cut grass, linen, bourbon biscuits, black pepper and polished shoes. The reduced palate was tastier and juicer – black bun, Liquorice Allsorts, coffee dregs, orange peel and sugar-coated fennel seeds – this was a real winter warmer.

DRINKING TIP: Hip flask at a rugby match.
