First sniff; wow! This is a proper filled basket of tropical fruit. We got sweet apple, pear, apricot, tangerine, mango, coconut and peach. Then honey, vanilla, pastry and a hint of licorice and lavender. A little pepper in the back and something waxy too, reminiscent of those tropical '96 Nevis'. In the mouth; oily, a little fresher but still that big concentration of fruitiness. Mainly follows the nose with a little more pepper added and a hint of aniseed.
The finish is a little on the short side but lovely sweet. Fruits, creamy malt and some wax.

No meaty Benrinnes this time, that trait seems to shine through with the involvement of sherry casks. This is a simple yet beautiful fruitbomb with some waxiness.
    So good!

    Based on a sample.

Impressive in both aroma and taste, complex, almost three-dimensional vanilla aromas. Little thyme. Mossy-wet scent later, mint in the distance Subtle. Top stuff. Worth its price. Beautiful sherry-cask finish whisky.

The excellent van Wees bottle again proves why I am such a fan of Benrinnes distillery. Nose, taste and finish are well balanced. I guess someone must have exactly chosen the right moment to bottle this whisky. Well done van Wees and team.

Full body with again a basket of fruit. Sweet, but for sure not too much. No need for a higher abv. 46% is perfect.

Medium long and very ,very nice.

I’m at the final 150ml of this bottle, this means the oxidation did have it’s Influence. I do remember this one to be this complex when I started this bottle. I didn’t remember it to have this strong spicy, dry notes in it. I guess this is due to the oxidation. Nevertheless, this is still a very interesting one! There is a lot of developement going on from start to finish, nose, taste and finish keep changing and offer a lot of different sensations to the pallet!
    • Nose
Immediately you smell this has got a big, full bodied and complex nose. There is a lot of freshness going on inhere. Fresh, light spices, a grassy note is also there. Sweet tropical fruit, something like pineapple. Beautifull complex nose. There are bourbon influences inhere as well as a sherry note.
    • Taste
Wow, this one does not leave any space for second thoughts! It is spot on from the first second. a fully flavored taste takes over your mounth. At first there is a creamy sherry-ish taste. Then there is a dry bittersweet taste. A little Sharp edge but nothing disturbing. Spicy note I would say. Although it starts to get a little unpleasant when you keep it in your mounth too long. The solution is a few drops of water. Don’t be to carefull, it can handle a decent amount of water. That will ease it down. There is a combination of old vanilla, peppers and tropical fruits again. Thick body, somewhat creamy at the start, dry and spicy at the end. This is not a starters whisky.
    • Finish
Definitely a very dry finish. Maybe a little to much for me there. Luckily it gets lees dry in about a minute or so. What stays is a quite Woody finish. A hint of laurel and believe it or not but there is actualy a clear hint of malty, new make spirit at the very end.
