    Nose:

Loads of caramel, some vanilla, tart orchard fruits, but a tad restrained at first

    Taste:

A totally smooth eplosion of fruit, which comes unexpected, very yummy

    Finish:

again the beautiful mixture of tartness and sweetness which I found in the nose, relatively quickly decreasing

    Comment:

A mellow dram without being overtly sweet, but with enough spicy substance - right up my alley. A must-buy malt for me!

Tasty, beautiful Nevis herbs, bushes fruit of 20 years in the old Hogshead, good spicy kick - you can take for 80 € like.
    • Nose
first sour, bready, that subsides and he is sweeter, towards caramel, to come slowly dry, old kitchen herbs (savory, marjoram, parsley from the 10 year old supply pack, so the direction) and a light breeze of wine gums ... a Droplets of water start the game over again, but they do not have to be
    • Taste
Wine gum says hello very briefly (sourdough not), then it's herb-spicy-bitter, woody-resinous, peppery, the herbs were again 10 years in the closet ... has a good bite for the percentages ... the smaller the sip, the more sweeter and less spicy / bitter, as the wine gum is a little longer, preferably in the front of the mouth
    • Finish
medium to long, hot, peppery and dry, in the end it still sounds slightly fruity-sweet in the cheek pouches

Good nevis from the bourbon barrel. There is not much to complain about. It does its job properly. Now of course nothing that knocks you away. But still good enough to deal with it longer.
    • Nose
Fudge. Orchard. Behind it also some exotic fruits like pineapple (not quite ripe yet). Then nougat and herbs. Also some hedge trimming on humus.
    • Taste
Sweetness in the mouth first. Sugar beets. Nougat. Then some oak wort. It tingles and a little sharpness spreads. But pleasant and warm. A certain acidity also comes. Yellow sour fries from Haribo.
    • Finish
Somewhat sour apple. Green tea. It gets drier and bitterness comes up.

Nose: resin, herbs (caraway, thyme, bay leaf), acidity with yeast leaven note, gentle oily oak, the longer it is in the glass (freshly uncorked) the more exotic fruit notes develop, the yeast note disappears Taste: resinous complex wood meets creamy vanilla and fills the mouth warming, honey sweetness finds its counterpart in acidity from the oak - mouthwashing, tart notes as of tree sap lie on the tongue - peppery - spicy - warming, it looks very round and smooth in the Mouth Although sometimes an alcohol note flashes, the finish is woody, sweet and dry. Conclusion: reminds me in the main features strongly to the 10-year standard bottling, but is rounder and more mature without being boring.

This strong 20-year-old Ben Nevis from a Bourbon Hogshead shows a lot of fruit and spicy notes in the background. Lychee, pear, tangerine and guava are well rounded off by aromas of sage, some cumin and clover.
