This Ben Nevis shows Ben Nevis own changeability and range: great tropical fruit cocktail with distinctive spice as an antipole
    • Nose
It starts directly with exotic fruits, mango and lychee, sweet yellow bananas, briefly a little rinse, slightly floral and herbaceous, but then come back to the great fruit, especially apricots
    • Taste
Barley-heavy, dry-malty, with spicing up, a clear antipode to the nose
    • Finish
long, warm, edgy, and again with spicy notes, mild pepper

    • Nose
      88 88
Fragrant and fruity, with an additional creamy vanilla touch and assorted dried garden herbs sprinkled throughout. A nice spiciness from the wood and a sweet, ripe fruit-juice kind of vibe round things off.
    • Taste
      89 89
A nice baseline spiciness kicks in first, and stays throughout the whole flavor development. It is joined by a honeyed sweetness and lovely notes of peach and melon toward the end.
    • Finish
      88 88
Zesty, spicy, herbal, softly bitter, with flashes of sweet peach.

Extremely delicious Nevis, these DL maturations are great! Ok, as a Nevis fan I'm a bit partial, but it turned out really well.

    Ben Nevis Factoids:

    * Founded in 1825 by Long John Macdonald and passed onto his son Donald MacDonald upon his death (what a handle)
    * Canadian! Joseph Hobbs buys the distillery in 1941 and installs a Coffey still making Ben Nevis the first dual-operational (grain and malt) distillery
    * Produces up to 2 million liters per year or 500,000 jugs of milk worth (Glenfiddich 14 million, Laphroaig 2.7 million for comparison). A good chunk ends up in blends, but I could not find what ones.

N: Über fruity, as they say. Passion fruit, lychee, kiwi, pineapple, melon, grassy, sparking orange juice, a little chalk. A cotton candy type sweetness

P: Yes, all the fruits came along. Light mouthfeel, it’s very exotic with mango, melons, lychee, more sparkling orange, very juicy. Like some sort of exotic mix of fresh pressed juices with a drop of liquid honey.

F: Citric sourness, mostly orange, but some lime and grapefruit as well. More mango, some vanilla yogurt, a touch leafy.

Notes: A very clean and super fruity Ben Nevis. If you have not tried this style, it’s a must. So unlike the big peat or sherry bombs out there. You could drink this stuff way to easily. A cork chucker.

A nice malt. Slowly I am developing into a Ben Nevis fanboy. Too bad that now the bottle is empty. Coming soon will probably be Ben Nevis again.

With water, the typical Ben Nevis touch increases. This is creamy-sweet-tart-spicy for me. I can describe it badly. At least I think she's cool.
    • Nose
Forest honey. Toffees. Toffee. Glazed yellow apple in butter. Kaba milk. Apricot. Malt. Kellogg's Smacks. Some herbs.
    • Taste
Malt. Fudge. Creamy. Now this nice Ben Nevis touch. In the mouth, the fruits are almost a bit more exotic. Lychee. Pineapple. Then it gets drier and spicier. Pomegranate. Rye bread.
    • Finish
The rye bread is more like sourdough bread. Some citrus. Ginger. And a bitterness reminiscent of a bit too long drawn green tea.

And again a delicious, exciting, versatile Ben Nevis, again a proof that even a licked barrel with a lot of time can bring great whisky ... 20 years, bar thickness, 90 € -> runs!
    • Nose
there comes me but a Gammelkäsefuß! - but fortunately only once very shortly after 10 minutes of life under the lid, when air comes back -> herbs, first sweet, towards Ricola, then drier; mild black tea, then it's fruity, orange / peach / apricot with honey, with a drop of water then dominates orange fruit jelly with some black tea and some ginger , , , after 20, 25 minutes the nose becomes fresher and fresher - in the meantime there is a nice, fresh, exotic fruit salad (with some white pepper over)
    • Taste
strange, which is quite changeable ... in any case, I always black tea here ... once very creamy, toffee, latte, black tea, then again a brandy note with black tea, the next sip herb-pepper-wood flour mixture (of course with ... black tea) ... diluted or drop by drop then enjoyed again delicious peach apricot jelly with some pepper, ginger and black tea ... yummy
    • Finish
long and warm, mild pepper, an intermediate of cocoa and liquorice ... and black tea (pulled a little too long ;-))

unfortunately the nose isn´t very expressive. palate and finish deliver very good quality and the price is quite ok. 88/100
    • Nose
malty and caramel.alcohol, truffles, fresh concrete, nuts.slightly citric, lemon juice. it needs some time to gain some harmony and never becomes spectacular.
    • Taste
much more expressive on the palate and immediately recognizable ben nevis. good combination of caramel, fruit and spices. slightly citric, this time more on mandarins, slightly peppery, gingery and a herbal tang of fresh green coriander. very nice palate.
    • Finish
slightly sour, gingery and herbal, good length

    Tasty and spicy, very tasty.
    • Nose
very ripe orchard - pears, apples, some pineapple, some mango, sweet herbs (Ricola), honey, resin, rapeseed oil, liquorice
    • Taste
Creamy, viscous, oily, sweet, spicy, again many pears, also Gali melon, sweet apples, some pineapple, honey, coconut cream, porridge with dark chocolate, ginger and white pepper, clove pepper, roasted hazelnuts, rapeseed oil, very malty
    • Finish
medium long, spicy-warming, peppery, porridge with dark chocolate sauce, licorice and licorice

Nose: first the typical spicy, resinous, herbaceous Ben Nevis nose - but this ripe, gentle and unobtrusive, then make juicy tropical fruits wide, pineapple, orange, mango, passion fruit .. Fruit salad, from the nose I could also a light-fruited Do not exclude sherry casks, after the first drops on the palate, the nose has only dominant fruit and light herbs - no wood, delicate Taste: gentle on the palate, well-integrated alcohol, smooth, syrupy, sweet, deliciously fruity, white haribo bears (canned pineapple) with fruity acidity, oak spice, white pepper on the tongue, the spicy edged Ben Nevis distilling character is still in the barrel after 20 years still preserved, keeping the balance nicely with the fruit flavors is rather in the finish or the air of the mouth to light, in the medium-long finish are also easy pleasant Bitternoten
Conclusion: delicious fruit bomb, nevertheless a real Nevis, I would not have thought the Bourbon keg so, very tasty and tasty.
