    OBAN has only a few bottlings - the Distillers Edition is a constant that I have come to love!
    This one does not disappoint either!
    It is always a challenge to track down the delicate, minimal smoke!
    • Nose
      sweet, fruity (apples, citrus fruits, oranges), almonds / nuts, maritime, oak;
    • Taste
      soft, fresh at first (mint), then very fruity (oranges, grapefruit), nuts, spices, woody oak;
    • Finish
      medium length, woody, oak, finest smoke (?), dry and slightly salty aftertaste;

    Nose very fruity, light, with apple and mint, very pleasant. In the mouth, cold shower: flat, slender, unbalanced and very short finish! With a little water, may day, may day, we also lost the nose!
    Enthusiasm 2/5

    [September, 2010]  I had this dram during a Prof. Schobert tasting at Bonn.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85. My notes state a sweet and winey nose with a rich and mellow body.

    This works best for me. The distillery character has been retained,given a little tweak and the result is excellent.
    • Nose
      Still that orange note,but its less zest/oils and more marmalade. Picks up new dimensions without losing character: some scented notes.
    • Taste
      Fuller and more bulked up. Slightly chewier to begin with but the freshness of Oban hasn't been lost. Sightly more grip and general ripeness of character.
    • Finish
      Nutmeg,lemon pepper. Substantial and good balance.

    Its like orange marmalade jam with the ocean breeze in your face. Warm and toated nuts with long finish
    • Nose
      New wood, lots of orange and oak. A touch of carmel with hints of the sea
    • Taste
      Carmel, nuts, some spice, hints of dried fruits, with some smoke and peat towards the end.
    • Finish
      citrus, sweet and smooth and the tongue nice long finish of citrus and candided fruit.

    I love the Oban way of doing scotch in small batches. I find it helps to control the flavor. The double mature as much to this process and you can really appreciate the amount of work that goes into each bottle.
