Completely ok, a nice nose, the taste ok too, the bitter intermezzo in the aftermath make my overall impression a little worse. Custom and does not tolerate water!
    • Nose
The first impression is fruity and nutty at the same time, ripe red fruits, fermented raspberries, a beautiful red wine aroma, to the nut mixture, damp tobacco, at 19 years, the oak barrel has already done a good job, the wood notes are unmistakable, in the background fresh mint, which is carried well by the cask strength, overall rather sour and ripe, than sweet, after the first sip the smell is much more fruity than at the first Verriechen, also some caramel and cocoa, and a little Zimtstern, water does not help, becomes altogether only brickelnder and the flavors less tangible
    • Taste
intense, but rather watery from the mouth feeling, nut cream, roasted nuts, behind the fruits, again sour, the roasty aromas are dominant, becoming drier, a lot of oak, almost harsh, water does not do him well, tart and it also comes out a little sulfur
    • Finish
very bitter and woody, the nuts are still firm, but are superimposed by the oak, as if you chewed grape seeds, with time it is more pleasant and in the end then all alone the nuts, but you have to be patient, then even some fruitiness is added

very wet and heavily sulfurised Sultanas, sweet, thick, hints of a moldy wine cellar, spicey, oaky, sweet again, finish is long lasting but loses a bit of ist sweetness. Very fine dram, well balanced, fine ABV. Gets better after some weeks in the open bottle.

The red wine barrel holds all the stops in the Prelude for the Nose: Poires pochées, ripe raspberries, honeydew melon, peaches and blackcurrants flavored with a fine hint of menthol.
After the first sip, the woody notes, which at the beginning are comparatively reserved, become more dominant: leather, oak, eucalyptus.

In the mouth, the alcohol powerfully presses on the tongue and thus sweeps aside other taste impressions downright, which are therefore perceived as rather fleeting. After the fading of this first wave, a generally fruity impression remains, which is most likely towards grapes. The wood notes with bitter chocolate and espresso quickly gain the upper hand.

The finish goes on for a long time and can best be described as bitter chocolate with fruit aromas for me.

For me, the blueberry wine = D THANK YOU to Dario Zeitler for the sample!
    • Nose
Grainy sweet, sour red fruits, fermented grapes, currants, a sweet mustiness comes behind, plum jam, wild berries, blueberries
    • Taste
Again forest fruits, the blueberries I now feel quite clearly, slightly peppery to lively, dry feeling at the tip of the tongue, grape juice
    • Finish
The dark forest fruits now come together with the grainy note from the beginning, it creates a lot of warmth, a light and sour tart bitterness

Tastes like a Bruichladdich from a wine barrel - lovely!

  6. Kaltduscher scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Very mild, the alcohol is very well integrated. Immediately typical red wine flavors such as dark berries, stone fruit and dark chocolate. Some cinnamon. The nose is very tasty, the Malt shows after the maturity but also already beautiful oak flavors.
    • Taste
A full load of fruits! Peaches. Apricots. Dark cherries. Plums. There is also a beautiful oak flavor. Dark chocolate. Some pepper.
    • Finish
Long. Nice spicy with pepper and a lot of oak. Dry and bitter finish with roasted aromas.
