  1. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

It does not always have to be the darkest first fill sherry whisky. Meets exactly my taste for a nice Schlabberwhisky. Of course, there are still more complex and sophisticated whiskys.
    • Nose
Nice, a great Sherrynase, a little nut, some chocolate and everything combined with a light fruitiness, just as I like it, the whole despite 59% and still quite young 8 years not alcoholic acting in the background, the leaves of freshly picked strawberries , the fruit is also rather in the light red direction, instead of the usual heavy dark fruits, a touch of old leather jacket I still find, but very discreet
    • Taste
creamy, oily, very fruity, raspberry, sweet cherry, chocolate (bittersweet), lumumba, espresso, a hint of licorice, roasted aromas, roasted nuts, an interplay of aromas, despite the cask strength even without water to drink well, possibly very slightly alcoholic
    • Finish
in the back then the oak beats a bit, becoming bitter, but still nutty and chocolaty, hazel nut, the nut will last the longest, could be a bit longer.

  2. Kaltduscher scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
In the foreground a heavy sweetness with burned caramel and block malt, accompanied by typical herbal notes of Oloroso. Chocolate sauce. Behind it sour fruits. Gooseberries. Currants. Oranges. Already clear hints of oak flavors. The alcohol is well integrated, the Malt looks older than he is.
    • Taste
Strong start. Again sour fruits, especially gooseberries and currants. This is accompanied by a nice sweetness with marzipan. Grape-Nut chocolate. Get spiced up in the back. Ginger. Oak spice.
    • Finish
Medium. Dried and sulphured fruits. Chocolate. Ginger. Some pepper. Walnuts. Drying with a lot of oak.

Typical Glenallachie. Clearly young but it works really nicely with this type of cask.
    • Nose
Wehrter's caramel, grape, peach and apple.
    • Taste
Caramel, apple, hazelnut, grape, fig and grass. Water adds pistache and a tad of wood.
    • Finish
      Roasted hazelnut, caramel and grape.

A powerful dram with a pleasant nose and delicate palate. Although
almost 60% abv, the alcohol makes it not too sharp and the oloroso cask
has already mellowed enough. However, not the heavy sherry flavours but
the filigree red fruity notes, toffee, almonds and oak spice dominate
here. More complex especially on the palate when diluted. I thank Michel Reick from Scotch Universe for the sample!

    • Nose
Rich and intense on the nose with a sweetness reminding me of molasses.
Fruity with red fruits, strawberries and red currant in particular.
Notes of dark chocolate arrive, lingering with hints of almonds and
tender oak spice in the background. The alcohol is present but
      relatively well integrated and
      not pungent.
    • Taste
An intense and dry start on the palate. Then sweetness arrives with
barley sugar, toffee and raisins, followed by milk chocolate, sherry and
warming spices of white pepper and tender oak. Caramelised ginger and
      tobacco leaves towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long, warm, slightly peppery and dry with oak and nutmeg.

With water: More fruits but less sweetness on the
nose with a splash of water. Surprisingly, the alcohol is more present
now, supported by prickling oak. Intense, yet vibrant on the palate with
prickling oak, cracked black pepper, even chili. Multi-layered and very
warming with a tamed fruity sweetness. The finish still shows medium
length. Warming and less dry with sweet barley sugar and oak spice.
