[September, 2016]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle of the first ever batch that I bought for 41 Euro in August, 2016.

[November, 2016]  I emptied another bottle of the first ever batch on my own that I bought for 36 Euro in August, 2016.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90 both times.  My notes state a superb balanced and somewhat old stylish dram that is dangerously quaffable...

PS:  Later batches are somewhat weaker, I scored them 87,5 points only.

Good, probably one of the best tasting I ever had. Strong but not absolute balance, as the single elements of this whisky are quite discernable. A go-to dram? Nah...
    • Nose
Sweet vanilla and medicinal smokiness are the principal elements that made their appearance in the smell: at first the sweetiness prevails, then the smokiness raises above. All along, fresly cut grass raises and mixes with her two companions: at first they start a battle, then, as the drinking goes on, it joins them in their concert...
      Also: orange, dark chocolate notes.
    • Taste
Medium consistency. Immediately noticeable the great difference from the smell: almost no sweetness -if not a hint, in the beginning -, and that leaves a lot of space for oak and spices with slightly bitter notes. White pepper. Good coffee feeling at the back of the tongue, fading in the finish. Slight mint freshness all along.
    • Finish
Medium length starting with the coffee flavour, then the sweetiness comes back joining the oak - way lighter than before. A very dark "happy ending", like when you sympathise with an antihero in a movie and he just gently gives the good guy a lesson to remember.

Balance sheet (22) I'm not sure that my receptors are in the form of ... a generally good molt. Dense enough, not boring though simple (86)
    • Nose
Aroma of warm, fruity ... malt and baking ... a board and a lemon ... an apple ... a little smoky ... linseed ... a fresh dough (22)
    • Taste
      Taste ... creamy ... spicy-apple ... acetone (21)
    • Finish
Finish soft ... vanilla ... wood ... spices ... banana ice cream ... ginger ... a drop of paraffin (22)

Does not oxidize very well. Only been opened a week and I'm on my third dram and it's be been all down hill from the first. The first dram was an easy 90, the second slipped and now, the third I like it even less.

It my very well be the flavour profile that is developing over time is not my cup of tea. It has everything I like in a scotch; oily, think, chewy, intense flavour a medium to long finish, but also a little bitterness on the finish. The flavour profile is light and fleeting and to me not all that interesting.

This is the third batch and I wonder what the other batches before this one are like? Does the third batch release contain lesser casks quality than previous releases?
