  1. Malthead19 scored this whisky 62 points Connoisseur

    - a rather bad "No Age" single malt
    - probably very young, not beautiful or special
    character traits
    - tastes rather unpleasant
    - quite cheap for a single malt under 20€, but man
    doesn't get really good quality
    • Nose
pungent alcoholic note (which, however, disappears the longer it is open in the bottle, in the end the nose was actually quite pleasant), smells a bit like a blend at first, in the background one can sense wood and light sherry with benevolence, after the second Sip it smells much more pleasant, if it is open longer the oak comes through, malty
    • Taste
despite the 40% burning on the lips and on the palate, in addition to the alcohol you can taste wood notes again, subtle fruit aroma, malty, something sweet
    • Finish
short, burning finish ; slightly burning aftertaste

    Without much interest. Without complexity.
    • Nose
Flower and green wood. Nose quite neutral.
    • Taste
      Dissociated alcohol. Chemical thinner
    • Finish
      Court.

Hell no. This might actually be the worst Scotch Single Malt I´ve ever tasted. Even worse than the Glen Grant Majors Reserve. Hard to believe...

It comes soft and sweet with faraway a hint of some in the nose. Really easy to drink, well for that price I don`t expect any spectacular surprises, some sweet and grassy notes, a bit sprity and grapes and for sure a bit spicy smoke in the background, maybe a bit peat or something like that. There is no bad single malt, isn`t it? For me this bottle works fine after a Friday evinge with some friends and some more beers as an "Absacker", the last shot before you go home.

Brrrr ... glad I survived this one. Maybe it can be used for cooking?
    • Nose
Mellow, sweet and grainy at first nosing. Notes of cardboard, wet wool and oatmeal gruel. Wrrrgs .... not very appetizing indeed.
    • Taste
Mellow and watery schnapps at first mouthfeel. The alcohol is not well integrated at all. Not as sweet as expected from the nose. Very grainy with notes of white bread, cardboard and oatmeal gruel with hot milk and hints of canned peaches.
    • Finish
Short on schnapps and grainy notes with a very cardboardy aftertaste.

    Pouring this in a
whisky-cola would be a waste. Of the cola, mind you. One of the least
    interesting single malts ever tasted.
    • Nose
      The nose is very
light and grainy. I am reminded first and foremost of a slice of white bread,
with (do not laught) peanut butter spread on it. Then some cardboard and warm
milk. Lucikily there are some hints of apples and sugared breakfast cereals to
make up for things. A little bit of honey. But oh, so light!
    • Taste
      On the palate as
well, it is very light. Make
that watery. Absolutely not good. Mild spices follow a bland palate of cardboards and sugared iced tea.
Soft hints of vanilla cannot repeal the mediocrity.
    • Finish
      The
finish is mercifully short, on more cardboard.

    A straightforward affordable malt.

  14. granella2003 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The dessert of our preferred whisky, Loch Lomond has a wonderfully sweet and gentle nature with a beautiful long finish that can be best enjoyed after a meal.
    • Nose
Soft aromas of burnt toast and subtle hints of cognac
    • Taste
Delicious sweet flavors of cotton candy, icing, Turkish fruit and roasted nuts with hints of banana
    • Finish
Long and soft aftertaste of lemon

  15. Roel scored this whisky 76 points Expert Senior

After trying this for a couple of years in a row, one gets used to the profile, which - I frankly admit - may not be to everyone’s ‘taste’. It does not have an easy accessible profile like the Glenlivet or Glenfiddich Speysiders, but is displaying distinctive Western Highland properties. Well, let us check what thé expert - notably - Captain Haddock does say; “Billions of bilious blue blistering barnaclesâ€, I like it anyway. 76 points
    • Nose
Apprehensive, indefinable odours at first, sweet caramel perhaps. Opens up on oat, peachy and fruity washing powder, almonds, buttery caramel, yeasty meat sauce, deep fried fish (peat?).
    • Taste
Gets way more oily and sweeter now. Still peachy, boiled veggies, cardboard, increasing grassiness, oily sweet nuts (Madeira?), sand, leather, tobacco and spices.
    • Finish
Relatively long on dry, grainy and oily notes. Perhaps, raisin bread, some whiffs of smoke too.
