Whisky Reviews for Gerston NAS TLDC

9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 80.86 points

    Quick hit review.

On the nose, there are unripe sour fruits and subtle peatiness, almost Old Pulteney style. Tastewise, maritime notes with a good amount of peat smoke (Ledaig?), citrus fruits and a herbal/bitter edge unfold. It can't hide its youthfulness and would have benefited from a few more years in the cask.

  6. Sandman scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Still young whiskey, but she is pretty in balance.
    • Nose
Lime, pear, apples, vanilla, turfo, caramel, honey, muesli, smoke, maritime, white grapes, and melon.
    • Taste
Turf foil, lime, pear, melon, barley, cinnamon, smoke, white grapes, maritime and mandarins.
    • Finish
Medium-long, turfo, barley, cinnamon, smoke and mandarins.

  7. Rosebank88 scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    A real surprise!
    • Nose
Full, malty onset, oak, citrus zests, rich minerality, salt and subtle peat smoke. Gradually also ginger, fumes and sweepings; then becomes almost ozone-like. In addition, notes of hay and raw wool. Excellently composed and surprisingly old-school!
    • Taste
Solid, mineral, oak, again subtle peat smoke, tart herbs, malty sweetness, some pepper, citrus zest, rainy hay, again raw wool, exhaust fumes and metallic accents.
    • Finish
Long, spicy oak, metallic aromas, light smoke and salted nuts.

  8. Loch Lochy scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

    Clean but totally boring.
    • Nose
At the beginning quite fresh with light citrus notes. Then gently with light corn and maybe a touch of ripe apples. Pretty unspectacular.
    • Taste
Slightly dry with subtle aromas of honey and chocolate with a slight bitterness and a sweet edge of malt sugar.
    • Finish
Dry with a rest of chocolate and tannins.

  9. ctu scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

It was a quite complex small highland distillery.
    • Nose
      81 81
Elderberry, peach, salt minerals, toffee and mild smoke
    • Taste
      82 82
Flower honeys, unripe banana, raisin, pepper and cinnamon
    • Finish
      81 81
      Medium length, dry, spicy
