Needs a splash of water. This is really closed without. Overall, although it isn't bad, it seems too young to be put in the bottle.
This was my first SMWS bottling. I got it during signup.

Some honey, some hay, quite spiritly, hot pepper, some wood, some candy sweetness

Quite short, not bitter, not drying. The honey and hay die at the back of the tongue. Something peppery fills the mouth. Some faint wood turns up and leaves again immediately.

Hm, I had a perfect bourbon maturation in my glass from a bottle that was open for a few motnhs. Great fruit towards green apples and a liquid tropical fruit cocktail balanced out by a pleasant sweetness from the first fill bourbon cask. Swims well.

Makes me think that I had a totally different whisky than jazzpianofingers.

The SMWS in Greville Street always seem to have Mannochmore left-overs behind the bar. Some are better than others of course, though there was a decent run of them in 2016, scoring on average around 85-86. Let’s finish this session with one of, if not the last SMWS Mannochmore releases of 2016.
N: Lively, hot, young, mildly sweet, mildly meaty [pepper speckled ham] and vanilled spirit.
T: Edgy, young, winey [Pinot/Sauvignon], spirity and somewhat uncouth. There’s a dry mouthfeel that doesn't seem like it comes from the cask. This isn’t paint stripper but there are finer basic single grains around.
F: Short finish on spirity chocolate.
C: Yikes, not very convincing. Water does nothing.

    SMWS tasting notes:

In an instant the panellists were transported back to their school days, sitting at the old beeswax polished flip-top desks. Lifting the lid revealed left over marmalade on toast from breakfast, a packet of Polo mints, wines gums, Soor Plooms and the crumbled remains of digestive biscuits. In the pocket of the school blazer we discovered Parma Violets and Love Hearts, the smell of which complimented the chalk dust from the blackboard. Strolling across the freshly mown grass field to the lunch hall we could smell melon and strawberry cordial, ginger beer, tinned mandarins, chilli con carne with sweet peas and apple cake with whipped cream for dessert.

DRINKING TIP: Drink with a dash of water to reveal a world of flavour.
