Bought my first bottle a couple of years ago for €70,- which was a amazing price. Nowadays if you can still find a bottle the price is going trough the roof.

    • Nose
A soft and fresh nose at the same time, one feels the influence of the rum which gives the nose its subtle depth
    • Taste
Sweet appetizer, vanilla, oak, toffee (butter and molasses) giving a little mellowness and fat, a touch of sherry? The body dries up, the spices arrive quickly, with more floral and fruity notes, all in roundness and suppleness.
    • Finish
The finish is long, lingering on the spices, with a touch of bitterness that develops and leaves a touch of olorosso (white and dry) in the mouth, leaving the vague impression of having smoked a tan, hay and a touch liquorice.

The whole is of average power, all in softness, in suppleness, in complexity of well melted aromas, round, original. Perfect with a Cohiba robusto shorts. Some find him weak, he is at least very nice, we start with him and we end with an A Bunadh.

Mild and patient. It should have been something with rum, but I had more Likor 43 impressions. Nae bad!
    • Nose
Rum, cane Sugar, sherry/oranges, warm spices, some American Oak, star anise, kumquat
    • Taste
Slightly sweet, wood, spicy, gentle and Likor 43
    • Finish
Warming, spicy with warm fruity notes in the back

  20. Rom scored this whisky 79 points Expert Junior

Vegetable nose little expressive, sugar cane? Quite dry and green in the mouth, almond milk, soft. Medium final where alcohol takes precedence for the first time. Not terrible at all.

    Very tasty and delicious. 1-
    • Nose
Honey, some rum, heather flowers, removes some cherries.
    • Taste
Sweet, incredibly sweet, a touch of spice, pure honey.
    • Finish
Inwardly very sweet, the whisky we again a little spicier.

  22. Snerik scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

    • Nose
Banana? Here you actually find some of the burnt sugar, like the one you find in some rum. Strawberry jam, vanilla, some tobacco and honey.
    • Taste
Mango, apples (both red and green) and papaya. A very tropical taste, much to my liking.
    • Finish
Quite a fast finish, and first you get roasted apple, candy of all sort, and some orange. After that it's a quite a wood sour finish, which is not very balanced, according to me. It kind of ruins the very pleasant taste.

  23. HunterRomario scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Well, I'm not getting a big deal with Balvenie's distillery. Not that their whisky is bad, but they do not talk so much in style, maybe it will break once.
    • Nose
Light style, malt vanilla, with a little bit of alcohol (more like white rum than dark), honey. The smell is light and soft to me. (81 b)
    • Taste
The flavor of Balvenie is more interesting. Honey, vanilla, light fruity, wood. Wooden spoon, compot pear. Pleasantly. (85 b)

  24. Whisky Hamster scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Generally a quality dram, but disappointing for people like me who look for a stronger rum cask influence. Smooth, but lacks personality. Probably good for people who dislike strong flavours.

For almost double the price of a Doublewood, I prefer the latter.

Who likes rum finish will love this Balvenie.
    • Nose
Distinct rum aroma. Honey sweetness, caramel, fruits and slightly vanilla.
    • Taste
Oily, exotic fruits a little vanilla & caramel and then a slight pungency.
    • Finish
      Medium warm and very soft.

  27. Ikkakumon scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    Very good.
    • Nose
      Rum, vanilla, caramel, sweet spices.
    • Taste
Caramel, citrus, honey, spices, some oak
    • Finish
Quite long, drying slightly, fruity. Taste of rum on the tongue.

  28. Ivynor scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Although not related to Chuck Norris, I approve this product. I would have appreciated more fade and more fat in the mouth.
    • Nose
Jamaican rum more than 200 years old as Captain Haddock would have liked. Unless it is more recent casks of rums?
It's quite powerful, with green cane (would I have found it blind?), While recalling some old farm rums. A little wood, vanilla, caramel. The nose burns the sinuses a little before softening.
    • Taste
Softer than expected, combining caramel and vanilla with elegance. It's a little creamy. Orange zest. We find this green cane at the end of the mouth. Not unpleasant but leaves an impression of youth (yet 14 years).
    • Finish
Beautiful length, with notes of candied citrus, caramel, vanilla. It's getting better.

    • Nose
Honey and Fruit.Lively aromas of vanilla, honey and fruit with slight notes
      of butter and spicy tones
    • Taste
Creamy, honey and oak.Delicious aromas of caramel,
vanilla and fresh oranges with pleasant spicy notes.

    • Finish
In the long finish, the vanilla and fruit flavors
resurfaces with soft spicy notes of coriander and liquorice

  31. D3US scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Quite unlike any other Balvenie expressions I've tasted. Still, extra points for showing distillery character through all that Cuban noise. Not a must have but a must try when you have the chance. Just for the heck of it.
    • Nose
At first very buttery, as if opening a pack of margarine. Then more familiar with that slightly spiced, oaky but mostly sweet honey note. Still, not a whole lot going on and takes some proper getting used to.
    • Taste
Ah yes, this is Balvenie indeed. Oak and honey sweetness with an edge of drying spices. Burnt sugar sweetness which proves the rum presence. Some light fruits and decent malt. Vanilla here as well, along with a faint bitter note I can't quite place.
    • Finish
Decent length. Warming spice and dry oak, enjoyable sugar or caramel sweetness carry off the malt into and adequate and well balanced finish.

A limited edition Balvenie release, originally produced for the French

market. This continues in the tradition of their Golden Cask and uses

Cuban rum casks to finish the whisky for a total of 14 years of

    maturation.

The oily feeling when you take a taste is surprising and very pleasant. Typical a whisky of one dram a night !
    • Nose
Rum and honey. Very fresh and fruity and a little malty
    • Taste
Rum and honey, so very sweet. It tastes a little oily. Mouthfilling !
    • Finish
medium. Tingling and very, very sweet.

    • Nose
some rum 'Cuba !), a bit smokiness, roasted nuts, aromas of stout
    • Taste
sweet, full taste, candy sugar, green tea, not very complex
