Whisky Reviews for Tormore 16-year-old

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.33 points

  1. Gloin scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

For me, this is a consistently pleasant whisky. All impressions match, nothing dominates and yet the whisky is exciting and multifaceted. Very beautiful.
    • Nose
Oranges, slightly weaker lemon, followed by caramel, a touch of coffee, almonds, fir branches, a trace of anise
    • Taste
Soft velvety onset and a likewise soft body, gentle warm chili sharpness, sweet, slightly spicy oak, malt, a tiny trace of sulfur, a little bit of bitterness, like a tart beer
    • Finish
Classic, malt, bittersweet oak, a little bit kräutrig, black tea, medium-long

  2. dRambo scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

solid, quite intense and uncomplicated full-bodied without being one-dimensional - PLV in 2019 really good
    • Nose
      86 86
syrupy sour apples with cinnamon and cloves, apple rings, lemon juice, lemon zest, fresh sawn boards, pine resin, fennel, stone powder, rye dough - sweet, dense and intense - with light youthful flashes of floral tones
    • Taste
      85 85
sweet, nuts, citrus peel, cocoa, apple jelly, butter sticks - also sweet and dense with a pleasant cereal bitterness - dusty oak, wood flour with a hint of furniture polish - dates, figs, a bit of sulfur
    • Finish
      86 86
slightly dry, pepper, warming, dusty with chocolate, nut flour and cinnamon butter

  3. Coldorak scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Tasted in a "whisky glass" tumbler, so nose note may have been better with a Glencairn glass.
    • Nose
      82 82
Vanilla and strong emphasis on caramel at first, touch of citrus and hints of spices on the background
    • Taste
      85 85
Spices and some sweetness from candied fruits, but without the alcohol and the spices biting you immediately. Over time keeping it in the mouth, spices (pepper, maybe ginger) get stronger, and the texture becomes lightly creamy. Hints on oak bitterness on the back palate.
    • Finish
      80 80
Medium to short on oak again with the bitterness getting a wee bit stronger
