Whisky Reviews for Glenfiddich 12-year-old
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 79.00 points
- Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Signature Malt (40%). Consumed Dec 2018. Aroma is a touch basic, woody, vanilla, pencil shavings. Taste is subtle, touch watery in the middle, subtle esters suggesting tropical fruits, quite pleasant watery malt character, smooth clean and estery with no alcohol burn. A classic easy whisky that most people will be able to enjoy in some way, which is why it is such a top selling brand. 3.35/80
- Who hasn't picked up a 12-year-old Glenfiddich in the supermarket ?! For well under 30 € this pleasing malt has a good price-performance ratio and has been the entry point into the world of malt whisky for many people - myself included.
Here we are dealing with a "special" bottle that is filled with 43% instead of the usual 40% drinking strength. Compared to 40% bottling, however, the difference is really minimal, if one can even speak of a difference. I had expected a little more than that.
Very pleasant and fresh, fruity nose. Pear, tangerine, tart apple, orange, fresh plum, honey. When the temperature increases, raspberries and strawberries are added.
Orange, a little pepper, ginger, pear, light oak spice, a little lemon.
Short finish with a medium length. What remains is pear with a little oak flavor.
Vanilla, sweet. (2014 :) Apple (officially yes pear), warm and sweet, has something of tea.
Fresh (a little), a lot of oak, slight bitterness. Sweet, floral.
Still oak. Alcoholic acuity is restrained.
Conclusion: I like him! Always happy. Fruity, not too bulky but still aromatic. Pleasant sweetness.
