I have tasted this Irish six or seven times and none of my tastings have ever convinced me. I find that her beauty is rather thin and that, to look closely, its defects are numerous. To appreciate it, no doubt it is necessary not to give him time to show them. Ass dry!
    • Nose
The volatile nose is extremely fruity with aromas of citrus and exotic fruits reminiscent of multifruit juice. There is also, bound to these fruits and coating them, a fine bitterness, similar to that which one feels while peeling a grapefruit. In the background, there are notes of green wood and toasted wood, even a hint of coal. Some alcohol spikes but not disturbing. It is both dry and rather thin, especially as the fruits volatilize quickly enough and leave plenty of room for other flavors.
    • Taste
The mouth is dry at first and lacks body. Exotic fruit accents, but also alcohol, green wood and bitter notes (wormwood, liquorice wood). The mouth quickly becomes very bitter
    • Finish
Fruit and bitter finish (a fruit rather green or yellow, but no name, like a compote quince-carambola ... but someone has already done something like this?), Long with tangy afterglow afterwards . Then a wooded drought settles permanently and durably on the tongue ...

    Emerald Isle 1991 24 y/o 52.6%
N-Passion fruit, guava, mango, pine, Key lime pie, w/that almost too sweet lime and sugar smell, slight spice I can’t pinpoint, kiwis, green apples, peeps candy
P- Grapefruit, powdered sugar, pine, sour green apples, fresh oak, pineapple
F- Drying, w/the grapefruit taking the lead, slight pineapple carrying through.
Extremely tropical w/ a slight sour note on the finish. This profile is one of my faves and I find to be quite delicious.

Colour: green tea. Nose: vanilla, muffins, fresh flowers, fresh apples, light smoke, old leather. It’s like apple pie on flowers field. Mouth: spices, pepper, light smoke on background, floral notes, green apples, green tea and oak. Finish: long, spices, green apples, oak, light smoke, strong dryness, dried hay, dust. It’s a light and easy drinkable whisky, in spite of high proof, with strong dryness till dust on finish. I

A very good irish whisky working nicely between tropical and vegetal notes.
    • Nose
Fresh and fruity with your typical tropicalness (passion fruits, mangos, bananas) and a few citruses (grapefruits) but not überfruity. Slightly green and herbal too. A touch of vanilla.
    • Taste
Same tropical and citrus fruits and herbal notes. Less fruity than the nose. Mentholated and more vegetal notes. Green tea.
    • Finish
      Medium, fruits, tea and mint.

Just a lovely tropical dream dram.
    • Nose
My my. Lovely nose. Of course the tropical sensations in here, like mango and peach. Some citrus, and fruity(pear). A tad malty. With time raspberry candy
    • Taste
Pear. Clementine. Tropical. Spicy, liquorice. Apricot jam. Oaky influence
    • Finish
Quite long and a bit dry finish. More Grapefruit now. Vanilla. Spicy. Hint of tobacco to.

Emerald Isle 24 yo 1991 (52,6%, Speciality Drinks 2016, cask #8507)Nose: the unsherried counterpart of cask #8583. It’s all about the
fruit salad: bananas, pineapples, passion fruits, lime. Also hints of
green oak and mint. Light vanilla marshmallow. Mouth: fruit galore
again. Same sherbety tropical fruits, with a bit more grapefruit now.
Granadilla. It fades towards green tobacco notes, citrus green tea,
fresh oak and menthol. Although it is probably from the same batch, this
one doesn’t come accross as peaty, it’s more towards the grassy side.
Finish: medium long, with plenty of grapefruit and minty oak.
One of the unsherried and virtually unpeated casks (although there is this leafy and almost medicinal touch), close to the ‘Nose Art’ cask #8533 in that respect. Lovely. I believe it hasn’t been made available yet, but I was told it should appear online soon.
    Score: 91/100
