One of the best Glenmorangies I have ever had in my glass. The nose impresses with surprisingly mature and complex aromas, which are unfortunately not reflected in this fullness in the taste and finish. This whisky in cask strength, would probably be worth 90+ points.
    • Nose
      91 91
The nose is wonderfully old-fashioned and complex: honey meets sweet cherries, the smell of old furniture, cinnamon and toffee. The whole thing is framed by ginger and orange.
    • Taste
      87 87
The texture of the whisky is very oily and the taste shows a spectrum of citrus fruits, which are surrounded by spicy notes such as cinnamon and cumin.
    • Finish
      87 87
The finish is medium in length and is characterized by orange jam, blackcurrant and sweet liquorice.

    NOSE
Honey, baking spice, roasted malt, leather, citrus peels, figgy sweetness and Honey Nut Cheerios with some dried orchard fruit, raisiny sweetness and a touch of toffee and cocoa.

It’s not heavy, it’s more fresh and breezy, but not in a light and wimpy way. The notes are delivered boldly.

    PALATE
Honey, cinnamon-heavy baking spice, buttery pie crust, leather, dried strawberries, Honey Nut Cheerios, toffee, dried orchard fruit and a bit of oak and raisiny sweetness.

Like the aroma it’s soft and velvety, not heavy at all, but it manages a wonderful multi-faceted complexity.

    FINISH
Medium-long -> Dried orchard fruit, Honey Nut Cheerios and oak fade with a light leather and strawberry candy sweetness.

Very delicate, soft and complex at the same time. Had the good fortune to taste these on a Glenmorangie tasting, best there was!

  8. Lu Cifer scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

    Aroma:
Aromatic and fruity, slightly exotic, hint of vanilla and oak, very pleasant.

    Taste / finish:
At first slightly spicy, then fruity notes spread silky-soft on the tongue, vanilla, sweetish with a hint of honey, almost palatable. The oak keeps the balance, overall the whisky appears very balanced, and turns sweetish-tart accompanied by fruity sharpness into a long finish.
Sounds sweetish-tart for a long time, the fruit notes slowly fade away, at the end sweetish and slightly malty again.

Dried fruits, sweet fruits, leather, furniture polish, christmas cake, grass, honey, tea, citric sherbet notes on nose.

Cream brûlée, toffee, dried fruits, tea, oak dryness, chocolate, spices and ginger notes on taste.

Long finish with spices, oak, vanilla, fruits, citrus, chocolate notes.

Rich, sweet, full bodied, complex whisky.

    Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose: The aroma is a veritable cornucopia of heady floral and
fruity notes; heather honey, honeysuckle and freesia mingle with orange
blossom, candied fruits, mandarin, pear and apple. This complex bouquet
is supplemented by a distinctive note of beeswax.
Palate: The mouthfeel is silky, creamy and mouth coating,
delightfully mellow and gentle. This leads into succulent, sweet
flavours of orange syrup, puff candy, honeycomb, vanilla, and some
zesty, herbal top notes of gooseberry and menthol.
Finish: The fruitiness continues with baked apples and pears,
then there are some deeper notes of brown-sugar, malty/biscuit flavours
and the gentlest hint of clove and oak tannin on the finish.

Jim Murray gave this in his Whisky Bible 94 points
