    An odd whisky. I know why this one wasn't that expensive and only wHb would bottle it. Yet not really my linking
    • Nose
      84 84
      Nutty, dirty but not in the peated sense. It has a kind of bbq meat nose on it. Which I tend to fins more often in Ben Nevis'. The sherry notes are quite clearly in the background.
    • Taste
      82 82
      A little similar as the nose. This is a tricky one. It is clearly sherried, but a bit weird. I get quite some sweetness from the sherry. Obviously there are red candy and strawberries here.
    • Finish
      80 80
      Medium length. Very strange notes here, I get cannabis and other green herbs. There is a lot of wood in here. Plus some sherry sweetness. Rather odd.

    a typical Ben Nevis, little influence from the sherry barrel, anyway or just because of that great
    • Nose
      90 90
      nutty, orange syrup, paraffin, many fresh fruits, cereals
    • Taste
      86 86
      strong, very little sherry, unfortunately too much pungency from the oak, white pepper, cotton candy, now also darker fruit, compote, milk chocolate
    • Finish
      88 88
      medium in length, now matches the intensity of the oak again, bitter cocoa, oranges, lemons and roasted hazelnuts

    Well, typical second barrel whisky Slightly sucked. Not as fat and oily as expected from a Ben Nevis. A little bit complex for 20 years.
    • Nose
      Wax - honey lemon a little bit flowery
    • Taste
      Vanilla - slightly woody, which also has creamy approaches
    • Finish

    A very beautiful Ben Nevis, is extremely well received!
    • Nose
      Lemon, wax, honey, nutty and malty;
    • Taste
      White pepper on the cake, lemon, pronounced tropical fruits (papaya and mango), malt and again a pleasant waxy note;
    • Finish
      Warm, spicy, pleasant oak, wax at the end;

  9. ASWhisky scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      a bit sprightly
      does not come over especially with me
      a little bit lax
    • Taste
      nice snappy start with a lot of vanilla, cereal smoke

      comes much stronger in the mouth over than I would have thought after the nose
      Acid becomes nutty and brings oak and some bitterness to the palate
      but in the mouth he also shows age, not in the nose
      nevertheless I would have problems to give him 20 y
    • Finish
      in the long finish then the Fassaromen come
      Chocolate & oak
      sweet bitterness in a nice change
      At the end a bit unpleasant bitterness sticks to the palate
      which is difficult to leave very long the finish in the end he is getting better

  10. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    The nose is not hui and not pooh, but in the mouth it starts great. (Unfortunately rarely experienced such an unpleasant finish.) Edit says: There must have gone something wrong at the first tasting. Finish is quite ok. Points adjusted 80 - 84
    • Nose
      Directly a decent load of caramel, nuts, fresh fruity sherry, spicy and woody, lemon peel, leathery, cocoa, lumumba, then creamy, the citrus notes are over time fermented sour and easily fermented
    • Taste
      strong and full-bodied, directly full of sherry, light roasted aromas, initially also the cocoa and chocolate, creamy, sweet, a lot of oak, spicy, plum compote, slightly dry, in between he has really steam
    • Finish
      on the finish acidic, very bitter, bitter, here now also nuts, hazelnut, but somehow unpleasant because of the strong bitterness, a rollercoaster ride On a second evening, I no longer had this negative departure experience. Complete without bitterness and quite pleasant with a nice nut note and some sherry echo
