  1. Luigisim scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    Creamy and gingery

It is consistent and balanced but I found it net and clean without great peaks, especially at finish

Imperial 1995/2016 MBI, Bourbon Cask 20155, 48.9% ABV https://www.whiskybase.com/whiski.../.../90020/imperial-1995-mbl #WagnerAlexTastingNotes First impression / Color / consistency: When pouring I notice sweet malty and a little mineral notes. Color: ocher; Consistency: rapid drainage on the inside of the glass Aroma / Nose feeling: Slightly sweet with malt, vanilla but also salt. Rather restrained and light, but fruity and fresh with pear and peach kernel. The barrel is also heard as well as some acidity, butter and menthol Taste / mouthfeel: Creamy and sweet with noticeable pepper and pear skin. Always sweeter, the malt presents itself with noticeable vanilla tingling in the mouth. The wood is noticeable. Finish / aftertaste / Length: A long, sweet tannins-rich finish accompanied by grape seeds. The finish becomes increasingly dusty and dry. Some bitterness and the wood can not be denied. I have the taste of black tea brewed for too long. Comment: If you like wood you get an exciting journey. An honest whisky, which vlt. was too long in the barrel. Points: 89/100

  3. Sapiano scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Undiluted from the small Snifter Nose: pear and dusty grape seeds. Later sweeter and creamy. Apricots are there too. Taste: The pear will be there soon. At first a little unripe, it becomes increasingly sweeter until it disappears into apricots. Some coconut, later also a few hazelnuts. Very fruity and creamy, but also a bit fresh. Later also some milk chocolate. Finish: Slightly sour ginger and a little wood, but still very fruity on the tongue. Medium. Conclusion: A nice fruit bomb with a light log. Almost something tasty. He does not need water. I like the nice creaminess. With over 120 € for me but then a little too expensive.

Rare and very special is the 21-year-old Imperial , as this closed distillery is barely available. It convinces with lush fruity notes of lychee, gooseberry and apple pie as well as honey, some licorice and white pepper.
