    • Nose
Very aromatic, warm with sherry, raisins, tickles the nose slightly, very sherry-heavy!
    • Taste
Aromatic, sherry, light spice, intense, slightly tart wood notes, spices, hint of cognac, hint of spicy, dark chocolate, walnuts, trace of coffee, with slightly tart oak notes merging into the finish.
    • Finish
tartly sweet, a little dark chocolate, walnuts, ends with light sherry notes and a hint of malty sweetness.

      delicious, a good one!

Probably a 2nd refill sherry butt due to the mild impact of sherry, its just notably in the background. not like the glenrothes 18yo sherry cask SV 55.2%

I think this would be better CS.
    • Nose
sherries, dark fruits, some leather in the background, pepper, dark chocolate and cocoa
    • Taste
mmm very good dark fruits and sherry, second sip is better then the first.

      Its really elegant

dark sherry, raisin, alcohol, oily, dark cooked fruits,
    • Finish
dark fruits are taking over, medium long finish. Not to much.

This one is a little bit difficult. In my opinion it was probably bottled beyond peak maturation and spent too much time in the cask. One for the fans of a slightly bigger oak impact.

For me this is too much though. There is not enough sherry fruityness and sweetness to balance all the spicyness and bitterness. It is very light on the sherry side. So in this sense it is not very well balanced.

Too much leather and sulphur for my taste - unfortunately it seems that this can be seen more often with the Maltman bottlings from this timeframe and range

Mature and elegant is the Glenrothes . He spent 27 years in the Oloroso sherry barrel . Dark chocolate, cinnamon, spices and coffee notes set the tone here. Heavy and oily on the palate, it is certainly a very Christmas whisky.
