It's exciting that the back is so mineral. As beautiful as the smoke on the palate, after the beautiful exBC nose, then finally hits through.
    • Nose
Gentle, in the foreground light (citrus) fruits, malt, vanilla, slightly mentholic / mineral freshness, nice ex-Bourbon nose, smoke is only very distant.
    • Taste
In the mouth comes the campfire, still warm, paired with a nice vanilla sweetness, fine malt note, a little citrus fruit, slightly mineral with seaweed in the background
    • Finish
The finish becomes tart and the tang notes prevail.

with water: no, I don't give him water

Conclusion: very interesting Ledaig, but a little one-dimensional in its dirty / soot character. Still - delicious!

N: very peaty, but above all soot - on the label is the comparison "like in the engine room of the ferry to Islay" (why not Mull?), And that hits the mark, dirty, burning oil lamp, plus a few bright fruits (Peach) and some vanilla cream G: sweet peat, vanilla, creamy, subtle oak F: long, with warm, sweet peat notes, light fruits, coconut cream and subtle oak spice, some tar and salt come into play at the back - with water: no, from I don't get any water - conclusion: very interesting Ledaig, but a little one-dimensional in its dirty / soot character. Still - delicious!

  3. The Macallan scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

A nice Ledaig, but not the best I ever tasted.
    • Nose
Gentle, smoky, briny, vanilla and some fruit
    • Taste
Firm, smoked chocolate, warm and slightly salty
    • Finish
      Dry, burnt grass, medium

  4. GJR scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Good Ledaig, pleasant and balanced without rough edges. Maybe something too sweet.
    • Nose
Cautious peat smoke. Also a little bit of butter. Fruit in the background (citrus, apple), some vanilla. Little freshly mowed grass.
    • Taste
Clear peat, slightly liqueur-like. Fruit (the same apple and citrus) remains and creates balance. A little bit of lemongrass and cardamom.
    • Finish
Long and mainly peat smoke dominant. A little drying. Solid despite the low natural cask strength.

A great 19 year old Ledaig who offers so much more than just smoke and peat: complex notes of seaweed and limestone, coconut and fruit , extraordinary and complex.
