Jack fruit! A lot of jack fruit! Banana cake, over ripped jack fruit.

Dubbed by many veterans as the "Best Speyside-r" to them. An old vintage bottling that is hard to come by, only 52 bottles, or approx 36L left in the cask of +/-250L, about 85% loss to the greedy angels and thirsty humans over the years, with an average of 2% dissipation, the maths is right. An old distillate was produced under United Distiller (Diageo) before being mothballed from 1983-1993. So feeling blessed to be able to have a wee taste of this beast from the Forres.
    • Nose
N- The 15ml wonder calling me from the glass with the warm toffee, berries compote, herby sweet, and chocolate malt. Vintage wood sap makes my palate moist, and different aromas are well proportional at the different parts of the glass rim. Woody licorice from the top descending to candied fruit in the middle, before sinking to the milky toffee at the lower half. Flanked with elegance and resinous fragrance on both wings, even the emptied glass offers refined lasting nutty, and roasted coffee notes. Worth the effort to nose this "thought-provoking" beast through your times. (95/23)
    • Taste
P- On the same path with the aroma, breezes of soft and refined red berries licorice. Resinous and nutty at plays for good layers of mouth-coating. (93/23)
    • Finish
F- Long, honey caramel, mastery bitterness, and ripe fruits carry on. (90/22)

B/B- 96/24 Deserving, what else to say.

Weighted Rate- 94pt, +1 for pre 90s, +1 for rare bottling.

    Colour: gold leafed maple
Nose: immediately its butterscotch and cinder toffee. Redcurrants, hazelnuts, pralines and Scottish raspberries. I'll even say rum fudge! Sweet Spanish tobacco, candied orange slices and vanilla almond granola.
Taste: utterly distinctive with tinned clementines with a lingering sense of liquorice and blackcurrants. A resin-like texture that sweeps across the palate and a lingering sweet honey peppery finish shrouded in a delicate smoke. Returning to the main body there are elements of lime, pineapple, mango, nuts and caramel all at play.
