The ultimate sherry notes for a "whisky", you almost can see it as a stronger version of dry sherry.
    • Nose
      90 90
An extremely intense dry sherry note, accompanied by obvious fruit vinegar and sultanas, with some vanilla flickering in the background, along with ripe figs, cherries, and half-ripe papaya, as well as some damp tobacco, soft spices, and a hint of oak. 90/100
    • Taste
      92 92
Extremely smooth, still a massively rich dry sherry note with just the right level of woodiness, the sweetness of dark dried fruit and cherry compote can be captured then, with some cooked white mushrooms, fresh orange peel, light cream, dark chocolate, and white pepper. 92/100
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium-long; some warm touches of clove, liquorice, tobacco, and herbal acidity, dark dried fruit still present, light oak bitterness and a sweet aftertaste surprisingly both present at the same moment, then the sourness of fruit sugar dominates in the last stage. 88/100

I suspect that this is overrated, but it's still a good, interesting dram. Does feel artificial at times, especially with the sweetness.
    • Nose
      88 88
Some oak, liquorice, dates, figs, cherries, pepper. Unusually hot for the age and abv. Slightly odd profile for whisky distilled in Scotland - perhaps this is from the difference in maturation location.
    • Taste
      86 86
Slightly bitter, figs, some red fruit. Not too much going on, but pleasant.
    • Finish
      86 86
Bitter and sour initially - too much liquorice. Even more liquorice now, which lingers. Red dried fruits come forward, along with candy sweetness.

The sherry is not hiding. But the fruits are not as dark as you might expect. Rather berry fruits like strawberry, raspberry and red currant. But also a certain artificial undertone. After a few minutes, however, the artificial notes are more subtle and gradually disappear. The fruits become darker, but also a little more sour. With wood notes and chocolate.
Quite mild and sweet in the mouth. Too frankly too mild. The fruits were now swirled in cane sugar. Then seasoning from the oak. The fruits are now more sour. Finally, a little bitterness.

The somewhat artificial undertone in my nose bothers me. In the mouth it is too mild for me. Overall, for me it somehow looks younger than 25 years. It lacks authority. Certainly not delicious. For the price, I imagine something else.

    18.7!
woody, soaked nose, chips, mildew, dry ceps,
cooked and maderized raisins, peach and cooked mandarin
    the characteristic sherry comes gently.
the mouth goes on old Madeira, on mushrooms again, on rather dry leather, the wood always soaked
raisins, almond kernel, a bit bitter at this time, cooked oranges
a little sage, camphor, mint on the return
the final cons is worth the detour, it's long, it changes:
on the woody, candied fruit, humus spring and old leather a little dusty!

At first quite spicy in the nose, a bit too much for me. Over time it becomes more and more pleasant and at the latest in the mouth it becomes spectacular. Something creamy and tasty, estimated 20%! 91 points!
    • Nose
Not as hard as expected. The sherry influence is clearly there and fruits are there too, but quite quickly herbs are gaining the upper hand. Extremely herbal. With plum and raisins, the whisky seems to me quite dry for Couvreur. Oak is now also strongly felt. This spicy herb side displaces the fruity side almost bollständig. Only with time, the typical sherry fruit flavors come through stronger again - berries, some cherry, raisins, trail mix. Now also leather and more "old school" in the nose. Oak and fruit are slowly forming a unity. Now it's going to be round. (After the palate was in the game, the whisky is softer, sweeter and smoother in the nose.) The strong spiciness and bitter touch goes back a little.)
    • Taste
Amazingly cute! Here are sweet fruits in the foreground. Cherry, plums, figs and an oak spice that becomes stronger and makes a taste of pipe tobacco. It feels so soft and creamy in the mouth and with the second sip it is so sweet and supple that you almost forgot to have whisky in your glass. Tobacco becomes more intense from mouth to mouth.
    • Finish
A rather long finish, which is characterized by sweet spice, which lingers for a long time in the mouth.
