    • Nose
      A youthful fruity sherry with lots of leather, dark fruit jams, plenty of rancio notes on this one.
      The sherry starts to dominate after a few minutes with a little wet wood thrown in.
    • Taste
      Creamy mouthfeel, very rich with a really spicy side but also drying with it.
      This does remind me of a fortified wine but I think this has good balance.
      Seems to get a little bitter but for once this adds to the profile.
    • Finish
      Long, creamy with a spicy tail

      With water:-

      Water has released some menthol and cough candy, with chocolate mints on the nose.
      The palate is even more spicy now with sherry starting to dominate.

      This is a solid 90 pointer.

    a very intense Highland Park. Nice that a little smoke and salt reveals that it is not a Speysider. That was really good barrel! Reminds me of the Dark Origins, only in cask strength.
    • Nose
      Pure: very intense, much more beautiful, not dirty sherry, sweet, dark cherry, plum jam, to the highland park typical smokiness, not dominant but noticeable. Only the flowery heather note can not prevail. With water: leather armchair, campfire, autumn leaves. Comes good.
    • Taste
      Pur: stronger, again slightly smoky and then heavy sherrylastiger beginning. Dark chocolate pulls the cheeks together, then the raspberry filling comes along. Oak brings nocoh the spice to it. Bomb! With water: becomes more ruachiger and maritime, now rather HP typical, but also now more delicious, heavy sherry in the foreground.
    • Finish
      medium long, getting drier, chocolate now at 99% cocoa arrived. And some salt stops.

    Beautiful sherry bomb from HP
    Sulfur in the nose, which quickly vanishes, then spicy notes with syrupy sweetness. Dates, leather, red fruits, vanilla, subtle smoke, some chocolate and coffee.
    A little bit peppery on the palate, then full-bodied, followed by a sour-sweet-spicy oak with red fruits, coffee and chocolate, very intense and complex
    Long finish, slightly maritime with spicy, fruity notes

    I'm not so pleased with the HP SC hype, this one is still one of the better, if not very complex.

      Lots of leather, chestnut, camphor, cocoa powder, plum, fig, dark chocolate, wet oak, campfire further back, vanilla
    • Taste
      Chestnut, camphor, ginger, nutmeg, black pepper, chocolate, rosemary, cherries, dark honey, forest soil, some mint and tobacco

    • Nose
      Intensive. Raisins, brown sugar, distant campfire. Cherry juice, powdered sugar, fresh vanilla pods. A trace of freshly sized wood. Wet garden soil.
    • Taste
      Dark cherries, pepper, a little honey. Wet soil, forest soil, a hint of menthol. Chocolate sauce, tobacco and ashes. Earl Gray tea with candy sugar.

    Nose: An intense wine-like sweet sherry nose, a slight tingle of alcohol and a hint of smoke can be heard. A slightly tart / spicy note also flashes through, but it outweighs the sweet aroma. Reminds me of dark grapes and raisins. After a while, a light vanilla sweetness penetrates, mixed with red grape juice. The smoke is clearly in the background for me. Taste: Sweet and strong on the go, alcohol is minimally noticeable, but not unpleasant ... followed closely by the campfire smoke. Interruption by phone ... Second sip: sweet / fruity sherry with barbecue followed by smoke and dark chocolate. In the finish then coffee notes, an association with tobacco / leather, a hint of residual sweetness and some smoke. Is he good? YES, that's really good! I like it. But needed some life and the current purchase price, I would not be worth it.

    a new style sherry board that leaves nothing of the character of a distillery, unfortunately hyped and therefore too expensive

      a dominant sherry wall, raisins, dark chocolate, prunes, freshly ground coffee, roasted aromas - I also hear a little salt
    • Taste
      Intense sweet sherry, raisins, dates, prunes, cloves, oak - is getting sweeter in the glass
    • Finish
      dry, medium length with a lot of syrupy sherry

    With water: The alcohol and its sharpness are in the background otherwise no changes for me. More fruit than sweet maybe an Oloro ?! The Highlandpark Brennereicharakter has completely lost, but does not bother. Good whisky, crass sherry bomb, issue price was fair (about 120 € 01/2017). He delivers exactly what you expect.

      dark, deep, complex, fat sherry, balsamic and toasted notes, caramelized lightly burnt sugar, plums, oranges, raisins
    • Taste
      sweet, plums, raisins, nutty, milk chocolate, spicy hot
    • Finish
      just medium, dry with fruit, slight saltiness, some smoke, no wood

    With water: More fruits (red and dried fruits), more sweet smoke, medium to long concerning the finish. All in all not very much HP left in this whisky.

    This heavily-sherried expression of Highland Park is utterly delicious.
    It presents the whole range of delicate flavours sherry aficionados
    expect from a sherry bomb.
    Rich, intense with the alcohol being well-integrated. However,
    Highland Park lovers would entirely miss the distillery character - peat
    smoke, citric notes and heather, which is completely masked
    by the sherry. A voluptuous after dinner malt though.

    • Nose
      Bold and intense! Instantly lots of sherry on the nose, mixed with
      raisins, plums, dark cherries, dried figs and oranges. Caramelised
      sugar, dark chocolate, almost
      espresso, and subtle leather with a touch of fragrant smoke in the
      background.
    • Taste
      Rich and strong on the palate with hugely voluptuous sherry. Fruity
      sweetness of dark cherries, plums and raisins, complemented with a
      warming spiciness of oak, cinnamon,
      allspice and a hint of black pepper. Some walnut flavours emerge
      nicely wrapped in gentle wood smoke.
    • Finish
      The finish is medium long, warm and subtle sweet while nutty flavours,
      dry oak, and notes of balsamic vinegar and liquorice take over.
      With water: Significantly tamed on the nose with a
      splash of water. Still lots of sherry, raisins and dates, while notes of
      dark chocolate and wood smoke are pushed in the
      background. Rich and creamy sweet on the palate with sherry and
      oranges, followed by a slightly warming spiciness of cinnamon, white
      pepper and lots of prickling oak. The finish shows medium
      length, with a subtle creamy sweetness and dry notes of prickling
      oak.
