    • Nose
      Surprisingly introverted campfire smoke, bacon, some vanilla / caramel and honey. The harmonious nose is additionally surrounded by fine sherry notes - dark forest fruits sting up.
    • Taste
      Beautifully oily, initially slightly sweet and pleasantly fruity, the smoky campfire notes are rapidly gaining momentum. Raspberries, raisins, malt, indefinable herbal notes with a light pepperiness, walnuts and dark chocolate join. Spicy oak notes become more present. The 46 volume percent are well integrated.
    • Finish
      Medium to long. The sherry barrel can set the last fruity accents. The smoke lingers for some time and is replaced by bittersweet chocolate notes and fine oak spice.

    An uncomplicated malt ... Not boring but nothing special.

      Chimney smoke with dates in bacon. Add herbs, hay and cappuccino. Slightly piercing ...
    • Taste
      Fire again. Crispy bacon, espresso and pipe tobacco. Slightly burning.

      long and coffee-like

    Exactly my booty scheme. I particularly like the strawberry sweetness. And at the price and the age. Nice.

      Cotton candy, strawberries (personally reminds me very much of Maoam's rosy strawberry crackers). And some ham

      Incredibly mild, plus a cherry note.
    • Finish
      Now the smokiness comes through more, but the strawberry sweetness remains.

    Somehow I do not feel like writing notes with the whisky. There is nothing wrong with the whisky, but also not really good. Very average. Trendier younger, also from the flavors, more beautiful, not too strong smoke and a little sherry, but somehow interchangeable and a bit thin. Would be a good for 30-40 euros.

    I think Domani has given a pretty accurate description. The marriage between Edradour and Ballechin is more or less successful, but it did not originate from flaming passion. More time might have brought some depth into the relationship.
    A Ballechin and a Edradour is a smarter choice if you want to buy something. I think you would do better to mix both bottles yourself. I'm going to try it out :-)

    I would have hoped for a bit more smokiness and complexity in the mix of casseroles, but that's what age is missing.

      light smoke, cinnamon, cloves, some cassis
    • Taste
      light smoke, first smoked trout, then more toasted cereal, dark chocolate, vanilla, light ginger sharpness, quite dry mouthfeel.
    • Finish
      medium long, smoky and spicy
