Whisky Reviews for Hazelburn 2007 CA

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.60 points

  1. Allandale scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    Fruity, spicy.
    • Nose
Sweet wood. Light grassy, floral elements. Touch of nutmeg.
Wood oils, ceder, charred elements, smokiness.
    • Taste
Medium weight, with ripe stewed apple. The wood seems less overt, some coconut. Water added brings the smokiness and wood oil.
    • Finish
      Creamy.
      Hot oil on a bandsaw.

  3. ctu scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Very good single cask from an active hogshead.
    • Nose
      86 86
Floral. Honey, malt, green apple, citruses, peppermint, kiwi, earth and spicy oak.
    • Taste
      87 87
Powerful and creamy. Pepper, malt, honey, caramel, waxy apple, mint, citruses and Haribo.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Long, spicy, oaky.

Hazelburn is known to beat the bridge to the Lowlands within the Springbank range. This one is doing really well here.

He is certainly not an upper hammer, but exactly what I hope for from a Lowlander.
    • Nose
Honey, malt sweetness, a pleasant subliminal adhesive note, he does not smell youthful but very wild - mint comes to mind here, green apple and pears, with the time he is pretty grassy and brings some hay
    • Taste
Very creamy, medium onset, gets slightly peppery, lots of honey, the mint and the unripe apple leave me here too
    • Finish
Nice and warm, the mint is now ginger, the oak is there but hardly bitterness

  5. malthead-sven scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

He is impressed by this sudden gummy bear explosion and slight charred reminiscences, otherwise rather ordinary, but no trace of youth
    • Nose
Granny-Smith apples, vanilla yoghurt, a woody peach kernel, kiwi, while a malty freshness, peppermint, with water initially a little closed, then comes timid yet creme brulee through, fresh egg waffles, oatmeal cookies
    • Taste
initially slightly alcoholic, then woody, even slightly charred wood and suddenly with a lot of sweet gummy bears
    • Finish
again wine gum, while somewhat herbal and herbal-like, peppered potato corners, barely bitter or dry, medium in length

  6. Bishlouk scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A very effective whisky for such a young age. It's older, I think. The cask has been very active. If the nose is quite abrupt and alcoholic at first contact, in the mouth this Hazelburn is very pleasant and pleasant.
    • Nose
Very powerful and well built. Noble wood, raisin, vanilla malt. Full of exotic spices that tickle the nostrils. Woody dust develops during dram.
    • Taste
Surprisingly sweet and sweet, easy, despite the 54% displayed. Vanilla malt, toasted, roasted. Raisin. Sweet syrup syrup. Some spicy notes here and there.
    • Finish
The wood resurfaced, polite this time (although he did not utter insults before, that said ;-)). Yellow apple peel is encrusted on the tongue.

    Cadenhead's Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: Slightly salty, creamy butter, biscuity, strawberries, floral and rich white chocolate
Palate: Small oily note, more of a creamy biscuity note, strawberries and turkish delight
Finish: Oily, white chocolate flaked almonds with a biscuity and nutty end
