    Enthusiasm 4/5 Whisky n ° 1346
    • Nose
Very waxy at first, caressing, warm. Later, woody, malt rises. There is sweetness, I perceive milk chocolate and hazelnuts.
    • Taste
Syrupeux but at the same time juicy, it is very fluid and velvety, what a beautiful texture! Very fruity, there are also subtle spices at the end of the mouth.
    • Finish
Following spices, with a return of malt, caressing and sweet. The barrel is in the spotlight here. Roasted notes in the empty glass.

    • Nose
      90 90
Citrus notes, grapefruit, wax, apple peel, a little vanilla
    • Taste
      91 91
Juicy citrus fruits, oily, fresh, spicy notes - makes you happy.
    • Finish
      90 90
(medium) long finish with grapefruit notes, cocoa, green leaves - finesse, then some smoke

  3. Zinni scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Perfect example of a rock solid, squeaky clean and typical 90s Clynelish!
    • Nose
Lively, dry, typically waxy, for only 45% quite strong, freshly cut grass.
    • Taste
At the age of 26 still very fresh and lively, no wood bitterness.
    • Finish
Here, too, surprisingly the 45% have a good bite and glow pleasantly, but at the very back of the palate there is some wood noticeable.

    Fragrant and highland floral.
    • Nose
Soft fruits; quince skin, medlar, sweet potato, sharp red fruits and a glossy sticky boiled sweet air. Some candle notes found. Water brings a creamy undertow.
    • Taste
A lavender soapy elements. Mineral freshness with a acidity at the end. Water brings some fresh pear notes. A touch of wax?
    • Finish
      Gentle and bright.

He is not bad now. But I have to admit that I imagined him a little differently. For this age, he is a bit bland.
    • Nose
Citrus fruits. More lemon and lime. Lemongrass. Green apple glazed in butter. Sugar beets. Straw. Implied wax (cold wax). Freshly cut wood branches.
    • Taste
Only a little sweeter in the mouth. Herbal honey and herbal candy. Then a little wax again. Now it is warm. Freshly planed wooden board. A reminder of incense. Grapefruit.
    • Finish
The citrus fruits remain a bit and it tingles a bit in the mouth. A little vanilla. Then some damp wood.

    Color: Pale Straw

    Powerless and interchangeable.
    • Nose
Hm. Even after breathing for 5 minutes he does not have much to offer. Dry sawdust, unripe apples, a hint of salmiac pastilles ... hay, sunflower oil.
    • Taste
Thin and powerless, less sawdust, here at least partly recognizable as Clynelish, beeswax definitely, buttery, flowering oilseed rape.
    • Finish
A little more raphoney, a little bit of dryness, a little bit of menthol candy, that's all.

A beautiful Clynelish without waxy notes and full and intense nose. The keg has already done a lot here. After all, the malt is also 26yo old.
Nevertheless, there is still much interesting left over. Fantastically full in taste, harmonious and own. He almost clings to the cheeks inside and does not want to disappear.
Sweet honey-like and slightly soft woody finish with lots of vanilla and some tobacco!

This Clynelish is mostly focused on the fruit, the waxy I miss in this expression. He is also very (too much, as far as I am concerned) wise and lacks character, even if he wants to be easily accessible. For 26 years of one of my favorite distilleries, I was expecting more.
    • Nose
Wise and almost erased. Dry yellow apple, dried lemon (but that refreshes the whole). A fine limestone trace that must be fetched yourself.
    • Taste
Light and easy (the alcohol level is not foreign). White grapes, lemon, a pinch of salt. The lemony acidity grows.
    • Finish
Finally, a thin waxy veil rises. Lemon peel dries the mouth. The salt becomes more present.
